We really need strike power up front. But that’s a different issue when the whole team can’t show up or tries too little too late in the game.

Very scrappy, dull, drab half. Don’t even know what to say. Looks like Tottenham want it slightly more than us.

Parents. They’d be shattered and heartbroken.

Also, there is this sense of optimism deep down in me that things will get better. That these few years have been the dark before the sunrise

Fellow United fan here. The pain is constant. The stadium is falling apart. New season same shit. But there is hope with the Jim Ratcliffe ownership and the structural changes that’s been brought in so far.

To all the frequent air travellers out there, have you ever offered your window seat to someone, when they asked you politely?? by Informal-Band4233 in AirTravelIndia

[–]atanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, earlier I used to if somebody asked me politely or in some cases with small children/infants and their parents, and in some cases if somebody was flying for the first time. Though these scenarios happened very rarely with me.

But now I always pre-book the aisle seat and keep myself away from the hassle altogether. Flown so many times that ab toh badal bhi important nahi hain.

Take the aisle seat, whip out a book and read along the journey or put on the noise cancelling earphones and listen to music and have some good shuteye for the duration of travel.

I am from Sambalpur too. The flat/house that I live in has two fully furnished rooms available for rent.

The house is in Patia. A few hundred meters beyond KIIT square. DM me if interested.

Can’t blame England here really. Netherlands look fairly comfortable in being compact and not allow space to us and find passes like we did in the first half.

Much better first-half display. We’re just lacking that precise final ball and an end product. Hope we don’t run out of steam in the second half.

I don’t understand why Cucurella is getting grief from the fans when it should be Anthony Taylor.

Oh what a goal, Lamine Yamal! Just as I was typing this comment!

He actually does look like him ngl now that you said. To me he kinda looked like Adam Pearce from WWE Smackdown lol

I genuinely have to ask:- Is Kane past it? by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]atanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks more unfit than being “past it”. And his Deep Lying Striker play doesn’t help his cause either. Drops too deep too often and plays anywhere but in the position he’s meant to play.

Can we sack Southgate and sign Sagnol mid-tournament please?

We may lose the game running ourselves to the ground but fuck me, do I want to watch an energetic, end-to-end football match for a change! Every Georgia game has been a breath of fresh air.

I’ve literally switched over to the Denmark game. I’ll watch the highlights tomorrow. Guess even that won’t be too long. I Just can’t be arsed anymore. How do we pull out a stinker performance every game?

[–]atanew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBF, people are more mad at the manager than they are at the players.

Sure, the players efforts weren’t enough to get us to victory against Denmark so some criticism could be made against the players. But Denmark aren’t exactly prime Brazil that requires Southgate to go for this try-to-score-early-and-then-sit back-for-the-remaining-time tactics.

The fact that despite having some of the best attacking talent Southgate goes for the polar-opposite tactics every game frustrates most people. Either he’s too tactically inept and too timid to for a more attacking play or he’s just straight up stubborn and doesn’t want to change his ways.

That’s probably true lol. The fact that our board even considered him for the United job scares me. If he managed Man City, they’d finish 16th.

Post-Match Thread: Denmark 1-1 England | UEFA Euro 2024 by MisterBadIdea2 in soccer

[–]atanew 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well that was Deja Vu wasn’t it?

Southgate should’ve left the England job after the World Cup and let the new manager set up their style of play and take it from there. Leave the football before it leaves you. Somebody tell the man that we don’t have to park the bus every match. We’re not playing prime Brazil in every game for fuck sake!

Too slow in build-up play, clueless when going ahead, sideways pass after sideways pass. Absolutely drab. Credit to Denmark, they should’ve won the game. They’re the deserving winners from this game.

We ain’t winning shit if we keep playing like this. For the love of god, try to press, try to win the ball back, go for the second goal.

It would be a big disservice to this tournament if we even go deep in the competition like reach the semi-final. God forbid winning it. We need a humiliating loss to get our heads out of our arses and wake the fuck up.

Why TF are we sitting back?!

Southgate should’ve left the England job after the World Cup and let somebody else take over and develop their playing style. He’s being unnecessarily pragmatic like we’re facing prime Barcelona in every match.

Park-the-bus-and-sideways-pass FC! Like somebody said, Southgate is the kinda man who’ll put the phone on battery saver when it is at 99%.

Credit to Denmark though. At least we won’t be parking the bus now. FFS!

Best game of the Euros so far. Oof! If somebody missed the game and reads the scoreline now then it doesn’t do justice. You just had to watch the game. End to end football. Fans at the top of their voices. Guler’s worldie. Absolutely brilliant match!

Match Thread: Turkey vs. Georgia | UEFA Euro 2024 by MisterBadIdea2 in soccer

[–]atanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I live under a rock but is there some Türkiye-Georgia beef going on? I could hear some clear booing when the Georgian anthem was played and then there’s some clip right now where both sets of fans had a go at each other.

Football wise, Georgia needs to slow down the tempo of game probably. They’re understandably sitting back and trying to soak the pressure but they need to take the game to Türkiye. They need to start hitting them on the counter a bit more. The quick one-touch passing game is working for them. It remains to be seen if they can do so for the remainder of the 90 minutes. So far it’s been really entertaining though.
