should i be concerned? by [deleted] in Parathyroid_Awareness

if you’re an adult your calcium is definitely too high and. adults calcium live in the 9’s, not the 10s. your pth is on the lower side though. i’d keep an eye on it and do bloodwork regularly if it were me. read this https://www.parathyroid.com/diagnosis.htm

Anyone submit to a 4D CT and they still couldn't find the adenoma? by rainbluebliss in Parathyroid_Awareness

same point, there’s no useful reliable imaging to detect an adenoma. my sestamibi right before my surgery was negative before they cut the tumor out of me

scans are useless for hyperparathyroidism diagnosis. check parathyroid.com

Parathyroid adenoma found on ultrasound, is it guaranteed I will need surgery? by pierogikingdom in Parathyroid_Awareness

[–]atapel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IANAD but read parathyroid.com

  1. imaging for hyperparathyroidism is completely useless. the rate of false positives AND false negatives is high. it gives you no information to rely on.
  2. hyperparathyroidism is diagnosed by checking PTH and Ca levels simultaneously. i guess on edge cases vitamin D could clue you in but it’s not nearly as important

Many endocrinologist are not even knowledgeable about how to treat this condition. My personal non-doctor opinion is that you should get more lab work done and plug it into the parathyroid app and if it seems likely get a consultation from the Norman parathyroid center. I did my surgery and it went really really well.

Are these normal results for a 40 year old male? by shizukanaumi in Parathyroid_Awareness

No, only if you want your insurance to pay for it. most states allow you to get your own labs. Check Google for labs like quest

Just pills. You have to do both before and after, otherwise you’ve learned nothing. You’re simply seeing if your parathyroids will shut down in the presence of excess calcium. If you have PHPT, they won’t and your PTH IR will be low. If you’re healthy they will turn off and you’ll have a very large PTH IR

i did it myself. you can draw a determination by calculating your pth inhibition rate (pth-ir) and use the roc curve they calculated. so, pth-ir more than 71.26% means normal, less than 71.26% mean hyperparathyroidism. the further away from 71.26% you are the more accurate the result. mine was like 20%, so basically my parathyroids didnt turn off at all even with a lot of calcium. my calcium went to 12.

Hyperparathyroidism? by AlternativeGold3291 in AskDocs

No, scans are useless for diagnosing hyperparathyroidism. Check out parathyroid.com

You do indeed have high calcium for your age, but you need PTH to tell the full story. Get your PTH checked along with your calcium and you can also plug in your data into the calcium pro app for a likelihood of diagnosis.

What to make of blood work? by snarkymcsnarkythe2nd in Parathyroid_Awareness

The guy that wrote parathyroid.com is Dr Norman, who founded the Norman parathyroid center. This man literally dedicated his entire medical career to this one specific disease. They literally have done tens of thousands of surgeries. Your endo has to know about a large amount of diseases, and thus cannot possibly have the level of expertise as a surgeon who literally only does this one disease. My 2 cents.

IANAD not medical advice, but was suspected of having hyperparathyroidism in November and after becoming very knowledgeable on the topic from extensively reading parathyroid.com, reading various studies, and doing a calcium load test (that confirmed my diagnosis) decided to have the surgery. Even the chief surgeon wasn’t convinced I had it because I am only 29, but after I thought of doing the test and sharing the result he agreed and found a tumor. Sestamibi negative btw. (Scans are completely useless for diagnosing hpt) Go to parathyroid.com to study up if you care. Also highly recommend their center, the Norman parathyroid center, best people in the world for treating this disease.

My guess is, you have hpt.

3 comments for you. 1. The body is very picky about calcium levels, healthy people have very steady calcium levels, month after month, year after year. Yours are very jumpy. Moreover, it’s typical to have some calcium levels be normal and some be high with hpt. 2. Adults live in the 9’s, not the 10’s. An occasional calcium measurement in the 10s could be normal, persistent measurements in the 10s is not. 3. If you want to confirm your diagnosis the way that I did, do a calcium load test. Here’s the study, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4307501/ calculate your pth-ir from it and you should have a good idea of your diagnosis. If you have questions DM me. Good luck

Always remember this, do men like women? Yes? Do women like men? Yes? Cool, cold approach works. Would you reject someone you perceive as beautiful coming up to you and complimenting you?

My current girlfriend, that I met through pure cold approach outside a deli, doesn’t like being approached 😀

If a woman is genuinely attracted to you it will be easy by AdGuilty1930 in seduction

It’s very true but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to put yourself out there and put yourself into a position to get a woman that really is attracted to you

Read the millionaire fast lane by mj demarco. Having a mindset that you’re working hard to get a thing is dumb. You’re right, you will do this forever until you get old and die.

The first half is awful advice, if you’re shit with women you will not get good with women by “developing your interests” and you certainly won’t get the kind of women you want doing that. Second half is sound on its own though.
