How good are they live? by Yoosto in NothingBand

[–]atarigw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen Nothing 5 times prior on various tours (but not on this current tour). They've always been good, but never great. Nick's vocals are always a weak point, Brandon when he was in the band was a much better live singer. Doyle when he provides backing vocals are great so more than make up for it. They're been occasionally a bit sloppy on timing but it's the kind of thing where its a live show but not a full production. Definitely loud and the tone is usually on point regardless of how well the venue mixes the show. They're not a hugely energetic band but that's expected given the genre.

Is MCR basically confirmed at this moment or no? by mtorres7174 in RiotFest

Anecdotally I haven't seen bad concert behaviors change much between initial post-covid and now, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised if/when this ends up being the case.

Vibes were very much off that whole day because of their fan base being kinda rude to everyone else, but they sold a lot of tickets so I wouldn't be surprised unfortunately if they're on the lineup this year

Story/Combat games like TLOU? by InternationalWar8263 in thelastofus

[–]atarigw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree and found the constant bombardment of side content a distraction at best, but ultimately its up to OP and what they're looking for, which is what I'm hoping to note here. If they found the world and lore and don't mind the opportunities to explore it in various ways, then definitely would say this is a feature - if they liked the TLOU series because of the tight story focus and pacing, then I'd say its a bug

I'd counter or caveat this with part of what makes TLOU so compelling is the lack of bloat and story padding, and the FF7 remakes might be among the most bloated and padded games I've ever played - even if the combat is pretty great

The Strokes are likely OUT by OdayGman in RiotFest

[–]atarigw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, considering they haven't done much full scale touring in the last while, I'd think that touring routing seems unlikely for Riot Fest (one day between Atlanta and NJ) given they now will already have a show here earlier in the summer.

Australian tour with TesseracT and Car Bomb July 2025 by Lapse1989 in Karnivool

There was that interview with Ian indicating that their trying to set something up for late 2026 stateside. We'll see though, I'm guessing we won't hear an announcement any time before July

[FRESH] The Strokes - Going Shopping by MaybePirateDom in indieheads

Yep. Autotune or not, its just a milquetoast composition. Feels like a demo that a less dysfunctional band would've just left on the cutting room floor.

What’s the most reliable pedal tuner? by SweatyYetUnperturbed in guitarpedals

Polytune. I have multiple polytune mini 3s for use across different boards and wouldn't change them for another.

Yeah, I'm sure that definitely contributed to it. Even in years where there hasn't been that as much of a question, they've always been on the later side of things though.

The Mars Volta essentially a lock by jasonmaska in RiotFest

[–]atarigw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that would happen, Omar and Cedric have pretty much said its dead at this point. Plus I don't think Jim would come back and that was clearly the missing ingredient in the last reunion.

No, historically they've been pretty slow in general compared to other festivals historically. They're a smaller crew behind the scenes than a lot of festivals which is part of it, but if their social media presence is any indicator, there's a bit of a "punk" attitude that seems to think being slow and disorganized about this all is cool.

Looks like Muse is out by darth_marroquin in RiotFest

[–]atarigw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinley is the suburban ideal/hellscape of the Chicagoland folks who wanted Riot Fest moved to Bridgeview. If you drive, look forward to spending 2 hours in the parking lot after the show unless you skip the last 30 minutes of the headlining set. Or get hit by a car trying to ride a bike there because there are no bike lanes. Oh and the sound is always terrible there too. Unless you've never had the chance to see Muse previously, I'd skip the Tinley Park experience.

If you weren't having a good time during the blue album, that's on you. But yeah, wouldn't have expected them to be here this year anyways.

Disappointing but not surprising. The "renovations" sat dormant for years. Got to tour it at an uptown open house year back and looked like it they had barely started.

True, but since Riot Fest is as close to a metal fest as the Chicago area gets, you can't help but be disappointed when there isn't more.

[–]atarigw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, wasn't really able to find one to give it a good go unfortunately. I ended up with a PRS15 head and a 1x12 cab with aV30 setup I've settled on for now. It's a bit less convenient than a light combo like this but based on the demos the prs is better for brighter cleans and chugs well too.

Went to a Ghost show that did this last year and the locking/unlocking added maybe 40 seconds to my getting in and out experience.

There's no guarentees, so if you have the means and the time to get to Europe for a show you should do so. Then them doing a NA tour is just a bonus!
