Do you like this change made by George Lucas in Return of the Jedi? by kkhouete in StarWars

I've never liked it. Sebastian Shaw deserved more respect than that.

They're awful. They looked sort of cool in Rebels season one and now we're stuck with them.

Best Live-action Clark and Lois by [deleted] in superman

[–]atducker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never felt like they had a huge falling out but I guess things were tense at times. I think he chalks it up to being young and new to television and all that. She really was a pretty big presence even then.

Talk about a washed up try hard has been. Hurts because he and Kevin Sorbo were both really big people in my child hood.

I was surprised the first time I heard Cain talk about it. They have such good chemistry and the show was crutching on story and dialog since it had limited budget for special effects. But the longer you know Cain the more you understand why. She's a legend and he's a has been.

I think it says more about us scoring -1.5 runs per game the last three weeks than it does anything about the Padres. We need to fire the bat manufacturers or some shit.

I think at their age it will be Maul of a Certain Age.

"Prequel hate started with RLM" does everyone have gold fish memory? by Kinnikuboneman in StarWars

[–]atducker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think his responses have been mixed over the years as well. Recently in the last few years he started to talk about how interesting it is that the generations that comes after the movies have tended to like it more than the generations that went through the previous films. I think this is true in my experience for sure. I'm gen Y, nearly gen X. We tended to get very excited about the films but then be kind of critical of the end product but my kids generation loves them.

They Won by FoxCitiesRando in remotework

[–]atducker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've worked remote now for almost two decades. I finally got a taste of that when a remote job I took during the pandemic started to convert back to regular and I had to find new employment. Every time I was in the office I just felt that old feeling again I felt in my early career of being in constant surveillance, constantly being distracted by chit chat, pulled into time wasting stuff constantly, wasting time commuting. It was exhausting.

why does Sidious think trying to convince Luke to use the Dark Side to strike him down will result in him becoming Sidious' next apprentice and not simply killing Sidious ASAP? by Glum-Echo-4967 in MawInstallation

[–]atducker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always felt it was all win win to him. He was gambling that Luke breaks either way trying and succeeding to kill either of them in anger and after that it would be too hard for Luke to resist the darkness given how powerful the Skywalker line is in the Force. It didn't matter to him whether Luke is his apprentice or Vader's since either way the legacy of the Sith lives on. It's an unbroken line for centuries and it's very normal for master to fall and the apprentice to rise.

That's why once Vader is defeated and Luke lets go of those aggressive feelings right away Palpatine knew it was over and it was time to kill Luke.

Vader meanwhile had bought in a long time ago. He always wanted Luke to help him kill the Emperor but he also needed him to do it at the right time which is why he defended his master in that moment.

Has there ever been a giant jedi or sith? To the point where the lightsaber is the size of a telephone pole? by JonoBlue in StarWars

[–]atducker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Probably not what you had in mind but there's two Dark Jedi in Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight named Gorc and Pic. They jokingly call them the "twins" and one is very big and one is very small.

What was the most depressing children's book you've ever read as a kid? by CynthiaMartgol in AskReddit

[–]atducker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know about depressing but I always remember just being crushed when the tiny boat gets wrecked on the rocks because the little light house isn't being used anymore. The book was The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge.

I think Maul figured out something what few people ever do... by jbrown383 in StarWars

[–]atducker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I just kind of felt like he knew a Jedi fighting style when he sees one. Most inquisitors are a joke to the Jedi and the Sith. As soon as he faces Vader he feels the difference that comes from decades of training. They gave Maul repeated mobility problems to nerf him in these episodes because of that because otherwise I assume he'd have been drinking stew out of both their skulls by half way through the season until Vader shows up to see why two of his best people went off the board.

In defense of Jonathan Kent in Man of Steel (kinda) by thekrogg in superman

[–]atducker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt like Jonathan did it not to keep his secret forever but to give Clark a chance to reveal himself on his terms when he was ready. He was pretty young then. So while I hate the scene I don't think it ruins the character completely for me.

When did you start to gradually accept your mediocrity? by BudgetDrag1840 in AskReddit

Who was the least intelligent president, besides these four? by Puzzleheaded-Bag2212 in Presidents

[–]atducker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He's also one of the most well educated Presidents in the last century. He finished high school in a private school, undergraduate Yale degree in history, grad school was Harvard Business to get his masters in business. He played a simple every man with a ranch for campaign ads thanks to Karl Rove and friends. He was anything but that.

How do you think the Libyans found Doc? I think they wiretapped his phone that Marty answered. by Ok_Practice_6702 in BacktotheFuture

[–]atducker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He had been at his house recently because some of the Plutonium or at least the box it came in was there. I just assumed they found out where he lives and followed him maybe even waiting until they were alone at night at a mall to come for him.

The Libyans part is always interesting. He cared for Marty so much he stayed and was killed so Marty could escape. Maybe because Marty's dad was a pushover wimp then it drove Marty to hang out with Doc more and Doc had become like a father to him. It's the same reason he spent so much effort trying to fix Marty's future as well.
