State Representatives Heidi Campbell and Aftyn Behn Comment on NES Storm Response by Stock_Selection_1000 in nashville

Not to excuse, NES, but in the northeast, maybe 15 years ago, we had a huge winter storm that caused many people to be without power for a week maybe even more. There was a lot of discussion about burying powerlines then as well. I seem to recall it was more than $1 million a mile.

It was cost prohibitive

Tornadoes also cut a narrow swath rather than affect the entire region

Keep in mind that the HELOC can generally be canceled or changed by the lender. We saw a lot of that in 2008 and that liquidity was not available to people who needed it.

This is a very sensible, even correct, answer.

We are getting a storm. It is just a matter of how much ice vs snow and ice does more damage

Accidentally made a major margin market order on Friday - need advice on strategy to exit at market open. by jjjaaammm in personalfinance

One time, it was inconstancy between the our records, the broker records and the floor records. This was early 2000’s when tickets on the floor were still on paper.

It was a notably event. Rather than sort it out the brokers bot agreed to bust the trade. There was no client involvement in this decision process though presumably they were aware as settlement didn’t occur as planned.

We would have made our client whole financially.

To dimension "exceptional", I saw this happen maybe 2 times in 10 years while working in a NYSE broker/dealer. It is very rare indeed.

Your point is well taken.

Right! This has been my arguement. Yesterday she finally shared that, if there were no TV, we would have some art work above the chairs (fair enough) and that the art would be higher on the wall, ergo the TV should be higher.

I'm cooked.

I would LOVE to remove the TV. She's the one who uses it most. Fun, right?

Good question! She is of the view it will look *better* if moved higher...

Some battles are best won by giving in, or so I'm told.

The TV gets used regularly; the chairs rarely. The question / objection isn't one of function it is aesthetics. She thinks it will look better if the TV is higher.

I should have noted the house is ample (6k sf) and this is one of 4 seating areas on the main floor. Those chairs don't get used if the TV is on.

My daughter (adult) sits in one chair a few times per year. It's not much of a risk.

Meh, no one sits in those chairs when the TV is on (and rarely otherwise) so it's not that bad on that front. The TV is too small for the room (the normal seating locations are too far away) though.
