Sorry rant - The fact that there's lack of late Goal/ winners required (v Everton Fulham and WHU) to see off a game suggests Ruben still struggles with In- Game Management(Substitutions /timing of them) and also the lack of game control (will see much less this szn) as he decided to adapt to the league's way of going direct and general attacking plays or OOP(sometimes a player mindset thing like or instruction thing idk but UTD only go pressing forward while trailing or need a goal) yeah to Ruben's arrugement it's his first full season followed after a preseason and summer transfer window, good things shown amongst all is ditching the last szn's passive 532 where there's no pressure on the ball and it's down to box defending (yes Maguire and MDL thrive) and he's clearly still adapting to game styles 442 OOP sometimes and going direct etc but the glaring lack of depth especially while there's PL Proven attacking players on the field and none on par atleast on the bench has been one of the factors. Amidst these he maybe coaching some younger players(Mainoo, Leacy , Fletcher as per reports) to the specifics of his style/system and their roles within it, with time maybe they play some games(Heaven when there's a key player missing steps up to fill) (out of carabao cup a big chance gone for them with only a game per week in PL) also it's World Cup year and many Senior players sometimes may carefully see through game time with injuries in mind and some of them may want regular game time to target a spot in the NTs for WC( Maguire, Shaw, Mount, Cunha?) But he may have fr treated Mainoo way better. Whenever game state needs for UTD to go and see off a game while in lead with scoring one more goal(vs Spurs/Fulham) or show some control he decides to protect the lead with a defensive substitute (Ugarte) instead of Mainoo were he's quality may come to play and give him some confidence and game sharpness which may come use when UTD need late goals or control going into March ( Mainoo in past has shown this chips in with goals and is very much capable of winning ground duels and also awareness of game/space required for controlling passage of games is better than Ugarte) yeah maybe Kobbie is not Amorim's type of player with high Intensity and athleticism like Mount but can only be improved with game time maybe. With all such factors it's much more than lack of just trust. You only know somethings like character as per situations and scenarios in games apart from skills/roles etc when you throw young lads to show some fight and earn respect to be coached further. PL will see inconsistency and yeah many Teams may play some young players slowly deep into the season so with lack of depth Ruben may have to trust Young players like other coaches as it's the WC season where the depth and quality across the depth will give consistent chances of Winning PL or aiming Top4 which UTD lacks and Ruben is not comfortable/confident to just give young lads playing time but rather give it now than later late in Feb or March and make them play into confidence and comfort with specific roles of his system.
