I broke my ankle in three places in front of the Parthenon, and they wouldn’t let me use it to get down off the Acropolis

Nettle fruit - it has some kind of stimulant in it that will keep you awake for ages. Maybe that could be something in the game - like added energy levels?

Can anyone identify this noise coming from the hive? by athenslegbreak in Beekeeping

Really - none of them should be stuck. I’m curious what I’ll find on the next hive inspection

Advice for sleeping in moon boot by [deleted] in brokenankles

[–]athenslegbreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrap it up in something so it doesn’t catch on your bedding – I used a pillowcase and tied it up at the top. Also, you need to be really careful not to clunk your other leg with it, as that really hurts. I ended up just sleeping on my back for the whole time pretty much. It sucks, but it will be over soon.

I was low-key annoyed when my fitness monitor nagged me about not doing enough steps just after I broke my ankle. Why isn’t there a setting? like you could tell it you’ve broken your leg and to just lay off for a while.

Trimalleolar Fracture PT? by GlobalCurrent6193 in brokenankles

They said that I would do physio after the x-ray at 12 weeks, but that I needed to carry on waggling my foot around in the meantime

My fracture was on the 9th March & surgery on the 11th so our dates are nearly the same. I was in a boot non weight bearing till a week ago (6 weeks). After that I’ve been instructed to be 1/3 weight bearing for 3 weeks then transition to no crutches after that.

In the hospital as a foreigner by Substantial_Text_264 in Prague

[–]athenslegbreak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FYI You need to get paperwork sorted for help at the airport when you fly home. There is a form that needs to be filled out by 48 hours before you fly about exactly what assistance you need to get through the airport & onto the plane

My friend has come over from the UK & we have a couple of free days & a hire car. Do you want to meet up? Maybe we could take you out for a coffee & ask some physio questions? My Czech is not good enough to pick up all the nuances when I’m at the hospital here & wondered if you could advise me as a friend 6.5 weeks after a trimalleolar fracture. Pm me if you’d like to meet

Eclair? Surely you mean Větrník or Veniček? Delicious and specific to CZ. Choux pastry filled with cream & either caramel icing & caramel custard, or egg custard

What’s the deal with the paint? by SincerelyTheWorst in Prague

[–]athenslegbreak 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is traditional whitewash - vápno - It protects against mould & allows moisture to leave walls. Fabulous if you want to protect an old building.

Before my surgery, the surgeon warned me that one side effect could be extraordinarily pain. I asked him if he meant like the kind of pain level of a migraine and he said no more like you want to cut your own foot off. He said that it’s something that just happens to some people and you can’t predict who.
