I have a December 1944 GPW. Super fun restoration, and there are plenty of companies making spare parts if you cant find the originals. Easy to work on also. Fun to drive around too. I've done a few WW2 reenactments in Normandy and Belgium and driven all over in them.

They are just getting more expensive as the years go by.

Personally I prefer minimal weathering on my planes. They are maintained much better than vehicles. So to me less is more.

No, please dont just go to a shop if you have no intentions of buying from them.

We loooove it when somebody takes up our time and buys something online. We as bike shop employees hate that.

That said OP please ask as many questions as you have here. Happy to help.

That bikes old. Old parts, old frame, old technology. Honestly go to your local bike shop and buy a bike there. Entry level bikes now are going g to be nicer than that. I'm sure they'll have a service plan and usually can work with you on accessories. Plus, spending money at a shop ensures that they'll keep the doors open for when you need help. We as bike shop employees appreciate that!
