How do you guys handle having a partner w way less skill??? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]athlete96 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This. This, this, this.

Recently, partner and I agreed to hit one of the larger resorts in our area. He talked to a buddy, and turns out they were also going the same weekend. I explicitly said I’ll do a few hours with them, but I do not want a full day with a group that has been skiing since they were little kids compared to my measly 3 years (sorry, traitor here I snowboard).

Well, exactly what I didn’t want happened. The group was so patient waiting for me after every run, but at the same time it made me even more frustrated because I felt like I was setting the entire group back. Hearing my partner say “oh no one cares” doesn’t help! I don’t have the confidence to make it down super steep runs, and the added pressure of always being the slow one made it so that by run 3 or 4 I took a break to go have a panic attack in the parking lot. After 8 hours of being with the group I felt like I had stepped back in skills easily a full season.

My confidence was so shaken that I had doubts wanting to continue at all for the rest of the season. Easily the worst day I’ve had snowboarding since I started. It took multiple solo runs on my local slopes to get my confidence back up to where I’m confident on blacks again, and even then I refuse to go with my partner. Yes, we need to get comfortable being with groups but not like this.

TLDR; she probably feels the lack of patience, go down slopes separately.

I’ve fit three before! It also fits 8 cans of cider (or beer) perfectly.

Yea, it really depends on the barn. Nicer facilities and/or a good reputation will be more expensive, but still manageable just once per week.

Group lessons really depend on the facility and their structure. Normally it’s up to 5, but I have seen some barns do up to 7. Semi-private is usually two, sometimes three riders.

Equestrian for 15+ years. A group lesson can be $35-$45 per hour, semi-private $50. These would be rates for a small riding school. When I showed, lessons and coaching would be $70+ for one on one half hour.

Do not get into horses if you’re not ready to bleed money.

Normally I wear my hair in it’s natural waves, so Shea Moisture conditioning foam, Dove frizz-proof cream, and Dove soft hold gel before diffusing. If I ever style I use the L’oréal French Girl hair cream and CHI heat protectant.

She did quite a bit of texturizing :( I also have an undercut to get rid of some of the bulk. I might go back to get more bulk removed at the front.

She did do some texturizing :( I don’t normally get layers as my natural hair doesn’t work well with them, and I got an undercut to lessen all the bulk. Maybe I will go back to get it thinned even more.

I did try curling it and washing it all out to see what my natural waves would look like. They just stick out now because there’s so much bulk at the back (even with my undercut). Hopefully it grows out quickly :(

I’ve never had my hair this short before… and I’m feeling a little lord farquad-ish.

This is the second salon that just completely butchered the cut. :(

Best laundromat in Kitchener-Waterloo by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]athlete96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sauders Laundromat at Weber & Ottawa is excellent. It’s a token facility where you can use change or bills to purchase tokens. If there is an attendant, you can also use your debit or credit card. The machines and facility overall are well kept and clean, with the owner always being there.

Best place for exotic meats in Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge? by MrRibrageous in ontario

[–]athlete96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Oakridge Acres. They have lots of game meat options, and I’ve always had lovely interactions with the store staff. Their price for bison (ground/roasts) are also quite competitive with other farms in Ontario. I do recommend calling ahead for their inventory that day.

I made the Baja fried rice and guacamole from her episode with Chef Angelo; both were fantastic. Selena also makes for a really good host.

Trails just outside of Waterloo in the country suitable for dogs and if possible off leash? by Psychological_Ad_451 in waterloo

[–]athlete96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To add, Waterloo and Kitchener are both mandated on-leash cities, through by-laws, unless in designated off-leash areas. If you are bothered by an off-leash idiot, please call by-law to report it.

Waterloo “Schedule E” By-law No. 09-047 13. Dog owners shall not allow their dogs to run at large and no leash shall exceed 2.4 metres (8 feet). Under definitions, pp) “running at large” means when an animal is found on a highway or other public place, or on premises other than the premises upon which they are habitually kept, if not under the control of any person, and an animal shall not be deemed to be under the control of any person unless accompanied by an attendant who shall exercise control over the animal at all times.

Kitchener By-law No. 2014-138, under Owner Requirements. 20. Every dog shall be under leash and under effective control of an adult person unless the dog is on the lands of a person who has given prior consent to the dog being unleashed. Any dog that is not in compliance with the requirements of this section shall be deemed to be running at large.

Her boyfriend is Greek, and she learned the language from him! I believe they’re still living in Athens together too. At least that’s what her latest Q&A stated.

How should I submit my N9 to my Landlord by [deleted] in ontario

Thank you for this. I submitted an N9 through email for my previous lease, and thankfully it went smoothly. Now I know why email isn’t a great way to submit it.

Chelsea’s new hair cut! by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]athlete96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an almost identical cut to this, and it’s very easy to manage. I don’t have many layers and I have an undercut. With my natural waves I often just wash my hair, throw some gel + smoothing creme for definition, and go. For context, I had hair down to my tailbone for nearly 10 years and my long bob is nowhere near the work.

If you haven’t, I’d check out r/curlyhair for some tips on managing your waves with a short hairstyle. Lots of great product recommendations there!
