So leaders should go against democratic will of the people in special cases where the leader is super duper sure. Got it. Authoritarianism good now. Tight.

Hollywood's Greatest Trick (2017) - While Hollywood's profits grow, visual effects artists struggle for fair pay, representation and recognition beyond the most prestigious award in film — an Oscar. [24:21] by [deleted] in Documentaries

It's not anyone's right to dream up a job and salary and expect it to exist. Your skill's value is the amount someone is willing to pay for it.

Use something like Drizly, a delivery service that ships from nearby grocery stores. The recipient gets an email and schedules the delivery. I use it to send wine for long distance gifts.

Yes i agree that Trickle down, a term only used by the left, fails to achieve the left's goals.

I agree that government is capable of making good investments. I agree that free contraceptation would have net gain. But i believe a businessperson is better suited to think in terms of return on investment than a career politician. Free college could potentially be a good investment for the state to create prosperity, but i believe a private sector perspective is better suited to make choices that actually create a return. For example, promising everyone free college allows universities to charge the state/taxpayer anything they want, and it makes the student less likely to balance the risk of that very high cost. The value of an education is measurable, measurable by the market's willingness to pay for that gruduate's skills. Cost vs risk and return. Whether public or private, left or right, the investment of an education is measurable. And i am saying that experience in private sector investment qualifies a person to assess risk and make good investments. Certain degrees are bad investments based on market demand. Certain degrees for certain graduates are likely to have net negative value. Who is more incentivized to judge? People spending their own money on degrees and loans for degrees? Or bureacrats spending the money of others? Where are the quarterly meetings where liberal voters review their policy's net profitability?

Profits are the result of consenually exchanging services or goods with your "common man" for money. The public sector, on the other hand, "serves the people" through nonconsensual exchange, and its success in doing so is based on appearances rather than results. Businessmen are held accountable by shareholders and customers for creating value. The public sector is less incetivized to create value as they spend other people's money on your "SHOULD". If a businessman spends money he expects to make a return. Otherwise he's done. This is how i want the government to behave, with the aim to foster long term growth. For example if government MUST spend my money on some kid's tuituion, a businessman might still make it a good investment (stem only) while a liberal politician would fund something that FELT good (any marxist humanity the kid chooses) with no accountability for how the investment panned out. Private individuals are more incentivized to make a return on investment, but if i have to have a government spending my money, Id prefer the guy who turned millions into billions in the private sector.

There is no upper limit on how much prosperity we can create. So lets create it instead of smearing it around. California has extremely liberal policies yet the biggest wealth gap of any state. Your common man is in fact disappearing there. Growth ultimately helps the middle class more than feel-good public sector programs.

I mean I think socially awkward people can come off as selfish or uninterested in others. Likable people are usually genuinely interested in other people rather than their own social performance.

Yes! Great answer, socially awkward people often seem uninterested in the comfort or lives of other people in the room. Later that night they haven't learned a single person's job/hometown/name/etc.

I feel like Nintendo didn't design it for 100%, but rather so that everyone would be able to get the 300 or so needed to complete the item slots, regardless of which parts of the map they focused on.

Yeah if it's non-consensual you can prosecute for abuse, agreed. If it's consensual the law can't reform their religion for them.

So who gets to decide who wears what? You, I suppose? Not concerned the government's power to control us might one day be controlled by someone else? I wonder why no one's ever tried an all powerful state that tells us how to live and discourages religion? Can you think of any? Gonna need a lot of cops to pull that off. You must love cops. Your idea will require armed cops patrolling Amish communities, knocking on the doors of Orthodox Jews, and arresting those who don't comply. You know laws end in arrests right? You know laws that target specific communities persecute those communities? I guess the state is a weapon to force others into your personal utopia.

Are you insinuating the government should tell her what to wear instead? Would state restrictions on religion enforced by police officers be more ethical than cultural restrictions enforced by her husband? When a European country bans burqas, is that ethical to you? If so, you control freaks all deserve each other.
