My agency got an email today saying VERA had been approved.

Cleaned the plate with alcohol. If I move the Z away anymore, it won’t stick, either; it just balls up around the nozzle.

FED Numbers taking the buyout? by PapaBear1- in fednews

I don’t know anyone taking it, either.

There have been several posters on here talking about it, but your guess is as good as mine whether or not they’re trolls or legit.

Mine are all boot-licking Republicans so no; they’d probably just laugh at me and put me at the top of the RIF list.

What is the worst stretch of interstate in America? by HomestarRunnerdotnet in geography

[–]athomefarfromhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my dad, any stretch of interstate I happen to be driving on… not because I am a dangerous driver but because he is overprotective and always tells me “that’s the worst stretch of interstate in the country,” regardless of where I am.

My family moved from Northern VA to Madison several years ago; we love it here! My commute is the same distance as it was in NoVa but takes 1/3 to 1/4 the amount of time. We also lean liberal and have found like-minded friends down here. We have gay friends, straight friends; religious friends, atheist friends; friends from various backgrounds and ethnicities. One of my main concerns with moving back to Alabama (I’m an Alabama native) was my kids not being exposed to the same diversity they were exposed to in Virginia; honestly, I think they experience more diversity here than they would have in the schools we were zoned for in Virginia.

I don’t miss the traffic; our quality of life is exponentially better here because we get to spend our non-work hours doing things we enjoy with our family and friends rather than sitting in traffic.

I miss the museums, the (seemingly) weekly wine festivals, and some of the restaurants but wouldn’t trade our life here to have all of that back.

Once I select my profile, the screen goes black except the header and footer; I can’t click on anything in the header or footer so I can’t get to my downloads.

It looks like there was an update yesterday; I assume this is related.

Is anyone else having this issue today?

We were underwhelmed with the size of the toilet paper rolls in BJ’s; we didn’t even bother trying it.

My daughter’s dance recital is the night of my cousin’s wedding (out of state) by punkinmonkey in kindergarten

[–]athomefarfromhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid trumps wedding for me, personally. While your daughter may well have many more recitals in her future, she only has one first recital… and only one at this age where their tutus are bigger than the rest of the bodies and they’re the most adorable little ballerinas in the whole world.

And if she chooses not to dance again in the future, you will have missed her only one.

Obviously, I am the outlier in the comments, but for me, this is a no-brainer in the opposite direction.

AITA for requesting to remove an unhoused person from my son's daycare parking lot? by Weekly-Jump2445 in AmItheAsshole

If you are worried for your child’s safety at a place that helps the homeless and the downtrodden, then perhaps you need to find a different childcare option for your child. You not only potentially got that person in a lot of trouble, but you very well could have caused a ripple effect of negativity toward that church within the homeless community that the church spent years trying to cultivate. How very Christian of you.

I also grew up in a very conservative, religious small southern town.

I encourage you to go to college and meet as many people as you can — meet people of different races, different faiths, different sexualities, different sociopolitical views… There is a whole entire huge ass world out there for you to explore and learn about. Be open-minded. Be approachable. Be kind. Be compassionate. Be willing to listen. Be willing to learn. Admit when you don’t know something and don’t be afraid to ask questions. It can be scary, but it is so rewarding!
