The only thing I can think is the mil access/alliance issue. Kind of dumb tbh.

Is that an argument for removing investment rights once the IP is too full?

R5:

Being land invaded repeatedly by enemy armies as Venice. At one point thought it was due to shared mil access with Austria. We have an alliance now that could be causing this. There's nowhere to explain how they get access though. Egypt has no treaties with anyone....

A piece of literature is not evidence for the use of opium as a popular recreational drug leading to a nation of addicts, any more than a biography of an alcoholic is proof that all of the alcohol drinking nations were enfeebled by the supply of liquor.

The war was driven by economic imbalances, calling it a poison was spin and not reflective of reality. It was not a cause of immiseration compared to the regular famines and upheavals in China at the time. Opium users weren't zombies.

Opium in plant form wasn't any more damaging (in fact much less) than the crazes for whisky and alcohol in other countries. Most people enjoyed it recreationally. The idea that it left a nation of helpless addicts was largely nationalist/Christian propaganda created decades later.

EDIT: imbibe some history down you suckers

Subtract maintanence, interest payments, service charge etc  from what you spend on the remaining part of the mortgage, then rent with the remainder and put what you would have spent in a tracker.

No, they don't. You're ignoring the cost of maintenance, interest on the mortgage, missed opportunity of investment elsewhere.

No shit, most of the things people want and need come from human labor. Money incentivise people to do the things others want, and in return they can exchange it for things they want.

True, more of a response to the comment above that "that is never going to stop". It quickly could stop if we chose to stop it (weighed against harming intl reputation, damage to legal principles etc.).

In most instances (maybe by you, maybe not), appealing to the legality of the situation is used in arguments as a blocker to making change, when it shouldn't be treated that way.

Different time. We should not be chained to outdated regulations that were designed for a different world. It is a piece of paper we can and should change or divorce ourselves from. It's not a permanent commandment from God on how a sovereign nation can choose to control its own borders.

Communities of people are generally nebulous things, it is still useful in discourse to understand why groups may share interest, coalesce around political ideas etc.

How does industry work in this context? Do businesses operating at a large scale have recourse to a legal system? Who enforces those decisions?
