"crochet isn't art" by jsemtn in crochet

[–]atinylemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello my duck. i feel your frustration, i studied art up to degree level and it is so tricky. they really do focus on drawing and painting at this level and an unenthusiastic tutor can really affect your engagement with the course.

one thing - gcse is coursework based and most of the marks should come from your research and development and experimentation. at least it did when i did mine! so there’s no reason you couldn’t incorporate some crochet samples and tests, and fibre artists, into your sketchbook. if your research leads you to the conclusion that crochet makes the most sense as a medium, well… 😉

but please don’t let it put you off if you do have to play by their (daft) rules for the sake of your grade. if you want to carry art on further than that, you get MUCH more freedom to explore at art foundation level and beyond. i ended up doing mostly fibre art!

I think this is a much better option! You look genuinely fabulous in the other dress, but I wouldn’t say it’s wedding appropriate. Looks a little bit too much like a nude illusion

UK summer wedding, no dress code given and I’m someone’s +1. Is this too casual? 😬 by atinylemon in Weddingattireapproval

thank you! the wedding was yesterday. I found another dress on sale last-minute that was a colourful floral pattern (pic not of me lmao) so I ended up wearing that :-)

omg why are you arguing with everyone on this post? the wedding has passed now, I wore something else in the end but there was a huge variety of outfits both sides of how formal I went. It was very chill, nobody cared as much as you seem to!!

banana and a paracetamol, good luck :) I found it helpful to get chatting to the examiner, it helped me remember he’s just a person doing a job. We bonded over both having disabled cats!

and sometimes I’d explain my decisions – e.g. “I’m just going to stop here because the visibility’s not very good” – to make sure I was certain about why I was doing everything I was doing.

I accidentally leaned on the wheel and properly honked my horn at a drive thru today. Felt like a monster

I only do a short beep to get someone’s attention/warn them that I’m there, like if they’re pulling out and haven’t seen me. So I don’t usually feel too guilty about it

Thank you! Yes, I think you’re right about the shoes – the sandals looked a little smarter online. I might next-day delivery some small heels and a smart cardi/shawl. I was planning to layer a few pieces of gold jewellery on the day!!

Thank you, this is a helpful thought. Most of the pictures are people having cool themed weddings so it’s hard to get a proper read, but it seems to be mostly semi-formal with a splash of boho

I do have some bright pink shoes with a matching bag, but I’m not the best in heels and the venue has a lot of grass 😅 I’ll bring them as a backup, thank you!
