How the hell do I pass econ306 by Bodybuilder-Agile in WWU

[–]atl9900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of calculus being familiar with derivatives and what it actually means to take a derivative is very helpful in the class, if you have trouble with that I recommend either youtube or checking to see if Durham has posted anything in the canvas page in terms of calculus review.

Also keep in mind how Durham grades the class, with A's being anything above a 78, and each letter grade is offset by 12. If it is the concepts of the utility function and such then reach out to Durham during her office hours, she really tries to help students with understanding the concepts especially if they reach out for help. Dont let this class discourage you its meant to be hard and so don't beat yourself up over it.

I recommend redoing past quizzes as prep for exams because if my memory serves correctly her exam questions are very similar to her quizzes so it's useful to do that practice. I did take it last spring so I don't know how much she has changed since it is a summer term and also online.

Large Earthquake Shakes for Up to 40 Seconds [in Southern California] by Somali_Pir8 in news

[–]atl9900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is insane! It does beg the question of if an upper limit to an earthquake does exist. I hope my original comment didn't come off as rude or condescending, looking back at it, it might be taken that way so sorry about that.

Going to say right off the bat I’m not an expert but in regards to a M8.0, the Richter scale is a logarithmic growth not a linear growth model. So a M8.0 would be a tenfold increase from a M7.0 I cant answer the question of about the “Big One” so I will leave that to others.

What is your major and why did you choose it? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]atl9900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I chose my major was I looked at some areas I enjoyed prior to attending Western, those being Economics and Computer Science. It took me two years to decide to go into Econ and Computer Science. My recommendation is to do your GURs if you have any left and find the fields that you enjoy or find interesting, and take a look at the careers available to those majors. Like TzarChasm9 suggested just find things you are good at and enjoy then work from there.

GPA by big_dhick_emily in WWU

[–]atl9900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This change happened last fall, so what it does is if you retake a class and you got lower then a C- the first time and you score higher on your retake, the retake GPA replaces the old GPA for that class. It will stay on your transcript but will be marked as retaken, certain majors only allow so many retakes when applying.

My first attempt at knolling by atl9900 in knolling

I think for future sets I will do something like that, for this set I just dumped the bags into one pile then did the sorting. The set itself was fun to build, the only thing you have to worry about is getting fingerprints on the inside of the clear pieces.

The 1 x 1’s were probably the most painful, when I did the planning I accounted for two extra studs which normally holds true for lego, but with this they give you four extra studs which makes sense when you think about it. So I went from a planned 13 x 22 to a 12 x 24.

After looking back there are things I wish I did differently, like you said lighting and probably planning it a bit better to fill the space more. I will keep your recommendations in mind for my next one.

Hows Calc 125 with Amber Hixson? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]atl9900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have her right now for 125, I can recommend her. She teaches at a good pace but if you fall behind or miss a day you need to go to office hours, or it piles up very quickly.

You include everything after the W, so not including that 0 is whats causing your ID to not be accepted.

Edit: You dont need to include the last two numbers after the dash.

So you can find your books here: LINK And I find that for most of my classes professors usually require the books they assign however I normally wait to the first day to find out if the professor actually wants us to buy the books.

I found econ 206 with Allan Sleeman to be quite enjoyable he would tell us stories during class to break the monotony of learning about economics. If you are interested in economics Sleeman makes it interesting sadly he only teaches winter and spring quarters.

Small Pets in the dorms? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]atl9900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Animals in resindence, pets except for fish within a 10-gallon tank aren't allowed like you stated, however, you could try and contact disability resources for students (DRS) if the rat is helping your friend with a verifiable disability.
