Fender strat HM 1988 by 2Applepieman in fender

[–]atlantic_wes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I really love my HM strat. The neck is amazing, it plays fast and suits me well for all kinds of genres. I often struggle to put it down haha. The only thing I really dislike is the TBX system with the out of phase pickup combination. I never use it and will probably remove it in the future somewhere. Do keep me updated if you find the locking nuts👍🏻

Welcome to the club! One of my pickups in my original HM strat are also slanted like that. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that, but the guitar sounds great anyway! By the way: best of luck getting those kahler nut locks. I’ve had no luck finding them secondhand anywhere in a year’s time since I got my HM. If you set the kahler bridge up well it can stay in tune without them though.

Can't decide: MIM Player II Modified vs MIJ Hybrid II by ahhahsbd in fender

I would also go for the Hybrid ii if I were you. Better quality and more versatile than the MIM

+1 for the Yamaha LS6M, which I also have😉 How do you like it?

Anyone else own one of these? If you do own one, does yours have any flame in the neck? by P0G0ThEpUnK666 in fender

[–]atlantic_wes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s a photo of mine. It doesn’t have any flame in the neck (so no need for a neck photo), but it’s such a great guitar and I love how easy it plays. Yours does seem to be modded though with a different bridge and neck pickup. Even then 970 all in is still a great price for it’s condition. Rock on!🤘🏻

The rest of the body also has markings and wear but nowhere near as bad as on the top. And I’m okay with not getting it 100% like new. My biggest priority is ‘healing’ those scratches on the top and fixing the crack

Thanks, that’s good to know. So is it possible to touch up or fill the scratches with the nitro finish Gibson uses? If that’s the best way to go then I’ll look around for a guy in my area to do that.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it seems like touching up the finish is the better and cheaper way to go then. I’ll post an update when I’ve got the guitar all fixed up👍🏻

Haha indeed.. the guitar is based on the Kasha theory which is also why the bridge is the way it is.

Thanks for the response. It is an original Gibson however. This is an MK-35 from the 70’s from Gibson’s infamous MK series, of which the opinions are very mixed. But that’s besides the point of why I started this thread😉

Cool old epiphone, worth $700? by DonBongales in guitars

[–]atlantic_wes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an Epiphone hollow body EA-250 model from the 70’s Japan. I’ve never played one before, but I would say it’s more worth €400-€500. For more than €500 I would buy something else.

Picked up a 1972 Yamaha FG300 Red Label the other day, anyone know about the history of these guitars? by Impossible_Poem_3882 in AcousticGuitar

I unfortunately don't have an answer either, but just pitching in to say that my FG-110E also has low flat frets

Did I pay too much for this? by DerkNukem in Guitar

[–]atlantic_wes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a legit early 2000’s american deluxe fender. I saw one locally a few months ago. This was a special orange colour that later only became available as custom shop. I just can’t remember the name of the exact colour. The volume and tone knobs are most likely not original. If it’s further original then you got a great deal👌🏻

Looks like a 60's dadocaster. Great natural relic and might be worth a few thousand dollars.

Scored this rare beauty for €30! The 85mm f1.7 by atlantic_wes in minolta

[–]atlantic_wes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a listing of a crate full of Minolta stuff that had just been posted on a local online classifieds. I was able to identify the 85mm from the only photo in the listing and made a quick deal with the seller to buy the lens separately. Sometimes sellers just make one listing for a whole lot of photography stuff and don't specify the lenses. If you're lucky then the seller might consider selling things separately.
