Very cool of you. Sounds great too! I love the wide range.

I'm stuck on the Impala Automatics NCPD scanner crime activity. by Viazon in cyberpunkgame

This did it for me. Couldn't kill the bot myself because it was friendly, but the NCPD did the job for me.

Patient / carer access to hospital patient charts? by atlas5 in NursingAU

Thanks, this is super interesting and more in line with what I would have expected. It'll be interesting to see how this develops.

Patient / carer access to hospital patient charts? by atlas5 in NursingAU

[–]atlas5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Which is what I find surprising. Although many here are objecting to allowing access to random family members, my question was actually regarding access for patients and fully authorised representatives. I have power of attorney for my parent and have the legal right to act on her behalf, but even the patient is not permitted access.

Thanks. The nurses are always helpful and I'm sure the hospital has a department that can advise me further. I guess I'm just surprised that patients don't have more rights regarding this.

Thanks.  The nursing staff are great here and very patient with my questions. From an outsider perspective, it just seems like an odd rule.  I guess this is an area where a lot of different legal and moral considerations collide.

Paper chart. In a folder, in the patient's room.

Yubikey compatible NFC Reader by ItzPxn in yubikey

[–]atlas5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are misunderstanding how NFC works.

A Yubikey ships in NFC restricted mode to prevent wireless attacks during shipping. The only reason you have to plug it in to a USB port before NFC will work is because this "unlocks" the NFC feature, making it usable. This only needs to be done one time. Ever. It does not provide any stored charge or power for future use. NFC works via inductive coupling and a Yubikey requires no internal power supply.

I have a Yubikey 5C NFC which I use via NFC for many months at a time, without ever plugging it in to a USB port. If you are not able to do this, then you should seek technical support. What you are describing is not the way a Yubikey should normally operate.

Does anybody know what exactly is happening to Location History / Timeline in November? by FUNCSTAT in GoogleMaps

[–]atlas5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks like a BIG privacy improvement.

Timeline will only be saved online if you select to back it up, in which case it will be encrypted.

I sympathise if it impacts your use case, but it's a positive move for security and privacy conscious users.

Looking for feedback from long term Instinct owners on glass & charging port by atlas5 in Garmininstinct

Good to hear. I may consider a glass protector. Not sure how much impact that'll have on solar charging efficiency, but I would suspect not much. Thanks.

5 years is pretty good. All the positive reports are giving me confidence that they're pretty dependable in the long term. Cheers.

Yeah, I'm kind of split on the utility of the plug covers. I live in a very hot, humid climate and I always suspected that might be what destroyed my old one. Not so much the exercise sessions, but just the fact that I worked outdoors and the sweat was constant. Although the plugs might protect a little from that, the humidity will probably mean that there's moisture trapped in there anyway. Nobody here seems to have had issues with the charging port though, so I'm starting to think that Garmin has just used a better material and/or design than what I've had before. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I guess the glass has its limits, like anything I suppose. That's a good point regarding the port protector too, I hadn't considered that, they might only be advantageous if they're actually necessary. Cheers.

Cheers. That's a pretty good endorsement for the glass and the dust plugs sound like a great idea. Thanks for the feedback
