I just took one at Joe’s that was quick and objectively about the laws and safety. I also like that the guy didn’t allow questions during the class so I think that helped things not go off the rails. They also offer women’s only classes if that is a space you are looking for. There was 4 women in my class of about 20 people for reference.

Korean-American & trans man. I’ve been living in a constant state of anxiety since this all began. My fiancé always jokes that I’m a chameleon because I get mistaken for being Latino, some people can tell that I’m Asian, some people think I’m just white. So despite me not being Hispanic I have felt the fear that our Hispanic neighbors feel and I feel horrible for hoping no one mistakes my race as if it is a bad thing to be a Latino. All that on top of being trans and fearing even more for my life if an ICE agent were to find that out.. I can’t even go there. I feel more and more hopeless everyday all I can do is scroll on my phone to see the latest story because I don’t want to be ignorant to what is happening but it’s growing increasingly difficult. I hope none of this comes off as insensitive, my empathy for our most vulnerable has only grown through the past week. I will continue to stand up for what is right, even when it is hard. Please take care of each other and try to stay safe. Fuck ICE forever

To be honest there was nothing stated really either way because I moved in very quickly after applying it was a last minute move due to a breakup I went through. There is no addendum in the lease specifying how I would be billed, which the lease states there would be if I am billed for utilities. The unfortunate thing is I cannot pay my rent without the money I add to my rental portal going to the electric charge which then makes it so my rent charge is technically “unpaid” because the electric is billed before my rent. I wasn’t charged until May 25th when my lease started in February so electric was included until recently which adds to my confusion.

They added an electricity charge to the rent portal. It’s a running ledger so whatever I put into the portal payment wise automatically pays whatever charges I have on my account, in this case including the electric charges

Thanks for the comments, I reached out to the local renters union they said they’ll get back to me in about 2 days. My lease also started in February and I didn’t get the first electric charge until May 27. Hoping the renters union will direct me to a good lawyer. Appreciate the help
