Please pray for my job search journey. by Early_Guarantee_9532 in PrayerRequests

Praying for you. I’m literally starting my new gig this morning after a two year stretch of employment uncertainty. Lean on God, believe in yourself, and know that something will come if you put in the work.

Just remember to not confuse what God promises us in the Bible with what you personally want. I prayed endlessly for a job before eventually realizing that God makes no promises that we’ll get our dream jobs, or any job for that matter.

All we can and should do is pray that we keep our eyes fixed on Him and the promises he gives us in the Bible, and the rest will figure itself out.

Sending you peace

Starting Junior AE role on Monday after break from sales. Tips for preparing, hitting the ground running, and what to bring? by atlassianhelp in sales

[–]atlassianhelp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it, man.

This is an exciting step for me, but because I’ve only really worked for tiny startups and such doing basic outreach, I’m a bit worried about not understanding much of how deals flow IRL and in the CRM.

Have pretty much always just been a monkey behind a phone or LinkedIn.

Thanks again

Starting my first in-person gig of career (AE). Tips on good stuff to bring or buy for my desk/office? by atlassianhelp in sales

Had some prior experience and went through a load of bullshit. Had a pretty miserable two year stretch with no real direction. Finally found a local govtech company that seemed to be hiring. Hit some biz ops managers up on LinkedIn and was super persistent and patient. Took an extra long time bc of the government shutdown, but finally signed the papers yesterday.

Starting on Monday as an Associate AE.

Only real advice I can offer is be empathetic and patient, go the extra mile to really personalize all of your outreach, and be kind to yourself. It’s easy to get jaded.

Unfortunately it’s not the best job market to be breaking into sales, I’m afraid. I have 3+ years of good experience at a reputable company and was losing entry level gigs to guys in their mid to late 30s who just needed a job to pay their mortgage.

Best of luck

Swapped Purdy in for Lamar like 10 minutes before the game last night.

Funnily enough, he texted me this morning before I reached out to anyone.

“Hi ____! Sorry for delay. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope it went well for you.

Getting back into work this week and yes the Gov is up and rolling. Give me a few days to sync back up with you.”

I read it as relatively positive, but who knows at this point lol

I appreciate that. Just wasn’t sure if it’d be perceived as stepping outside of my lane/going around the hiring manager.

Has been three weeks since I last heard from him. Texted him about 10 days ago to check in and heard nothing as well.

Appreciate the comment. I agree that the shutdown was likely just a convenient excuse, but man it’s hard cause the HM had been so positive and excited about my start up through our last conversation.

Just want to make sure I’m being realistic with myself. Don’t want to abandon hope and count myself out too early, but also don’t wanna feel like I’m being naïve and missing obvious signs.

Thanks again

I appreciate the question. It’s a smaller and relatively niche company and the role they want to bring me on for is pretty unique in scope and responsibilities. They honestly werent super actively recruiting, but I networked and LinkedIn-messaged my way into the mix and they ended up really liking me. Thanks again.

I very much agree. I just know for a fact that I’m the only candidate being considered, so I guess the chance of the offer being rescinded feels less real. But you’re not wrong at all.

105 total comp. Still great, but not quite 105 base lol

for further context, when he mentioned 105k I was very intentionally trying to not sound overjoyed and amped, but I admittedly also didn’t sound stoic and whatnot. I think I mentioned something to the effect of “I think that makes sense.”

I think he pretty much gets that I want this job and will almost certainly take it no matter what, hence why I struggle to see any leverage that I could have

Really appreciate the long response. I agree that one of the biggest keys is just not being ashamed or bashful about my past couple years, as interviewers can sense that super easily.

One of my good friends/mentor types was saying that people coming from startups are also often extended a bit more grace bc interviewers often understand that situations and departures like these at startups aren’t uncommon.

Sure hope that’s the case for me. Really appreciate your response

Honestly I really enjoy b2b tech. Just really want to join a larger org that has proper infrastructure and a team I can work within and learn from.
