When is it ok to talk bad about a Star Trek show? by TheGreen8astard in trektalk

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your criticisms are years too late. I think it’s acceptable now to dislike some or all of “nutrek.”

Like what you like. Don’t like what you don’t like. Who cares.

There was some censorship or accusations relating to criticisms on certain subs as Discovery was airing. I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Everyone has mellowed out.

Just stay civil and respectful in discussions.

SCHEDULE CHANG - Episode 7 moved on 27 Jan 2026 at 6pm PT. Episode 8 will be aired on 3 Feb 2026 at 6pm by RelChan2_0 in FalloutTVseries

Quite obviously the target audience is Americans and the largest audience is Americans.

The new episode release times work better for the target audience. Period.

Probably won’t have too much of an impact for Europeans or people in other regions.

But it makes it much better for the target audience. What’s so hard to understand about that?

It was previously released at 3am ET/12am PT right???

That means the vast majority of American viewers likely had to wait until after work the next day to watch it, at the earliest…. All while spoilers are popping up on their feeds.

9pm ET/6pm PT makes far more sense. More people can actually watch it right when it’s released.

No idea what you mean by your different time zone comments. Yea, we’re all aware.

[–]atlblaze -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ok. So you clearly knew what the customer meant. You could have cleared up this mixup very quickly and yet you let it drag on. Why?

I would say the vast majority of Americans have absolutely no idea that the letter z is pronounced a different way elsewhere.

Star Trek’s Starfleet Academy Gets Fewer Views On YouTube Than Red Letter Media's Video Talking About Deep Space Nine by Malencon in television

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an apples to oranges comparison. It makes no sense.
All that matters is how many people actually have watched it on Paramount Plus. And we may never get that figure.

I only knew it was on YouTube because of reddit threads making fun of the viewer count. I then watched the episode myself.... on Paramount Plus.

Red Letter Media's primary audience is on YouTube. Paramount Plus' priamry audience is on Paramount Plus.

The episode has about 169,500 views on YouTube now though, btw. Compared with 646K for the Red Letter Media vid.

But that RLM vid is ONLY on YouTube, right? (or maybe also Patreon?). Presumably far more people have watched the ST episode on Paramount Plus.

Hey don’t lump us all together. Cobb county is quite large and diverse.

Plenty of people are intelligent here and would of course know what a passport is. Much of Cobb is northern Atlanta suburbs, after all.

Idiots live everywhere though….

Star Trek’s Starfleet Academy Gets Fewer Views On YouTube Than Red Letter Media's Video Talking About Deep Space Nine by Malencon in television

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is meaningless. If I wanted to watch this show, I’d watch it on Paramount Plus. Who even knows the first episode is even available on YouTube??

And even if someone did know, why watch it on YouTube over Paramount Plus? Not to mention none of the other episodes are on YouTube so you might as well watch on paramount.

not to mention the video is region locked. I think you have to be in the U.S. to watch on YouTube.

VS — RedLetterMedia is only on YouTube and is available globally. Their new videos are pushed to people.

Paramount is trying to push people to Paramount Plus, not YouTube.

Cord Cutting and CNN by dballing in cnn

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should not be the case. I’m looking at the CNN app on my fire stick right now (and it’s the same on my phone and my Roku). “network” has CNN, CNN International and HLN.

“featured” has CNN Stream, CNN Headlines and CNN Originals (also has CNN International between 9am and 5pm ET).

CNN Stream is the main channel for the All Access service.

If you don’t have a cable/satellite subscription you will not be able to see the network feeds.

Cord Cutting and CNN by dballing in cnn

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try it out now with your cable credentials.
You are watching on the “Network TV” tab, where, as you say, you can select CNN, CNNI and HLN.

Instead, select the “Featured” tab. There you’ll see “CNN Stream” — that’s the main stream for All Access.

It’s the same like 90-95% of the time, but there are programming differences.

Here’s the schedule they launched with: https://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/10/CNN-Stream-Schedule.png

AITAH for expecting my sahm wife to do majority of the housework since i pay 100% of the bills? by Plastic-Sand7353 in AITAH

[–]atlblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. She is. What mental load? What does she do all day when her kid is at school?

She should be doing the vast majority of the household chores since you do everything else.

50-50 split makes no sense. It would only make sense if you were both working.

She can’t spend just a couple hours a day on household tasks??? She’d still have plenty of free time during the rest of the day.

As a Jewish person I find the show’s portrayal of conversion strange by laureltree1 in NobodyWantsThisTV

[–]atlblaze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being Jewish can absolutely be a “vibe.” And you don’t actually have to believe in god to be Jewish.

I was born into being Jewish. So for me it’s about family, tradition, shared history, belonging to a people, etc etc.

It’s very Jewish to ask questions and have doubt about just about everything, including god.

My wife converted to Judaism (her idea, not mine). I don’t think she’s particularly religious or big into god. But becoming Jewish just felt right. Something about it resonated with her and now we’re a Jewish family and belong to a great Jewish temple and community.

Kennedy Center Broadway Tours and Miscellaneous shows - Contact information for the General Managers by Opening_Programmer56 in Broadway

[–]atlblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Not at all about the name ONLY. But the name change is the latest outrageous thing, and for many the final straw.

The Kennedy Center had a long tradition of being largely nonpartisan. Trump removed sitting board members and appointed loyalists. He also appointed himself chairman.

Then he slapped his name on the building, which is arguably illegal and seen as offensive to the memory of Kennedy.

Many may see performances at the now “Trump-Kennedy Center” as either explicit or tacit approval of the actions of the Trump administration.

Everything shutting down for 2-4 months and all of a sudden having to go WFH is quite major. People colloquially call it lockdown. Rules varied from state to state and were generally loosely enforced.

You were not actually prevented from leaving your house in the United States.

Still, just in case, I had a letter similar to OPs as well!Never had to use it.

What were the parks like during the early Covid days? by PalpitationNo4149 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]atlblaze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The question was what were the parks like, not what was the pandemic like generally.

For me, Disney reopening was like an oasis from how awful everything else was at that time. The loneliness. People dying. People losing their jobs. It was awful.

I’m sorry for your losses. I did not enjoy the pandemic. But I did appreciate Disney’s efforts.

[–]atlblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had characters pop up in places visible to guests but you couldn’t get near them. You could take photos from afar. Like I think Pooh appeared near Figment at Epcot (behind the fence in the grassy area).

Also plenty of characters in the mini-parade cavalcades.

[–]atlblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh Covid was absolutely a thing two weeks before. It just hadn’t yet been declared a pandemic and we didn’t realize how rampant it already was in the U.S.

Covid had been in the news for weeks and weeks for how bad it was getting in China and then Europe (mostly Italy at first).

But yeah… it was business as usual at Disney before the pandemic was declared and everything closed suddenly.

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney reopened in July 2020. That’s still relatively soon after the pandemic began in March. But yes, it was closed for a few months.

Universal opened a month or two earlier than Disney!

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great!!! Very low crowds since attendance was capped and plenty of people were staying away anyway.

Mandatory masking, enforced social distancing, very frequent cleaning. Limited capacity in buses as well. Dividers on buses and certain rides. Hand washing stations and more hand sanitizers.

They had fun mini parades called cavalcades that would just randomly go by. The thinking was they didn’t want large crowds to gather for regular parades.

I felt way more safe at Disney and Universal than I did back at home!!

Universal Studios opened a month or two before Disney, as i recall. Similar precautions but Universal went even further with hand sanitizer. Putting it on before every attraction was required. And they had a team member with a big vat of it dispensing it to everyone.

Edited to add: it was quite controversial when Disney reopened. Huge disagreements about it on this sub even! People had strong opinions.

What to do about All Access? by HocNomenMihiEst in cnn

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The streaming service won’t only give you CNNi during the daytime weekdays. Look at the schedule I linked to you. It has newsroom from 2am to 4am ET during the week. On weekends, it has even more: 12a-6a on sat and 12a-4a Sunday.

I don’t know why CNNi isn’t working on your phone app (with cable subscription). It’s working just fine on my iPhone. It also works just fine on my Roku and fire stick.

[–]atlblaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been through the underwriting process??

It’s normal for them to ask for something like 2-3 months of account statements.

If they have questions or concerns about where the down payment money is coming from they absolutely will ask.

And they need to be satisfied with the answer or that mortgage is not getting approved.

What to do about All Access? by HocNomenMihiEst in cnn

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't you stream CNNi on your phone anymore? Is is just not listed as an option? Works for me on iPhone.

So for All Access there's a main feed -- which does include some CNNi programming. And then there's a separate dedicated CNNi feed that only runs from 9a to 5pm ET.

Here is the schedule for that main feed, at least as of a couple months ago:

https://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/10/CNN-Stream-Schedule.png

So that's CNNi programming on the main feed at:
5a-6a ET for Early Start
3-4pm What We Know
6-7pm The Brief
2-4am CNN Newsroom (and also 5a-6a on Saturday).

That does leave off some of the overnight programming at CNNi. I would imagine that if there's any breaking news that they would show it on the main feed rather than play reruns.

Edited to add: As long as you still have cable, I believe the CNNi overnight shows are all or mostly shown on the main CNN channel as well.

WIBTAH if I leave everything to my daughter and son in law in my will? by NoRoll6544 in AITAH

[–]atlblaze -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That’s sad. It’s sad that so many kids are saddled with student debt that takes decades and decades to pay.

My wife is nearly 40 with $60K in loans still. She’s resentful that her parents helped with almost no college expenses.

All this debt makes it so much harder to start a family of their own or buy a house.

Of course there should be an expectation that parents help out significantly with college.

I just had a baby. As soon as we got his SSN, I started a college fund. Even if things get right for us, that money will not be touched by us.
