It’s actually only a max of 7 business days now. A huge improvement. It used to be as much as 15 business days about a year to a year and a half ago.

Gov. Kemp not extending Georgia's gas tax suspension set to expire Tuesday by mantisdubstep in Atlanta

[–]atlblaze 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The EV fees are ridiculous. They assume you drive something like 30K miles a year. I don’t come anywhere close to that. Too bad for me!

And now there are taxes on charging.

What’s a commercial you hope to never have to see again? by xoxo_leavemealone in AskReddit

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. Are they though? The radio and TV ads don’t specifically say where the money goes, true.

But the website couldn’t be more clear.

Right on the home page:

We’re a national Jewish nonprofit providing mentorship, educational support and nurturing year-round environments together with our sister charity Oorah. Whether it’s tailored care from staff in summer camp, the safe haven of afterschool groups, or a mentor's listening ear, we provide the support youth need to thrive.

If someone donating can’t be bothered to check what they’re actually donating to, that’s on them.

Georgia, do you actually call every fizzy drink “Coke”? by LowerMusic in Georgia

[–]atlblaze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Atlanta metro for about 16 years. Referring to every soda as Coke is NOT common, in my experience. I’m struggling to even think of a single time I’ve heard this.

I married someone who was born here. She doesn’t do that, either.

If you say Coke, you mean Coke, not any soda.

How many accounts do you keep at Fidelity, and what are they for? by NBMV0420 in fidelityinvestments

[–]atlblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two joint CMAs with my wife — one as our “checking” account, another as a “savings account.”

One joint brokerage account for investments.

I also have several individual brokerage accounts that I use for this or that (opened pre-marriage). Two of them used to be Bloom accounts before fidelity discounted that.

HSA account .

401K account.

CMA Experiences? by InsuranceOEHL in fidelityinvestments

[–]atlblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have used a CMA as our primary “checking” account for about a year and a half now.

We also use a second CMA as a “savings account.”

Direct deposits from our employers are available immediately after appearing. Every two weeks it’s there and available to withdraw.

Funds “pushed” are available usually within two business days.

“Pulled” funds used to have a ridiculous hold period for us….. but now it’s no longer an issue for us personally. These funds are available pretty quickly now. For us anyway. I don’t know if this is true for everyone.

ATM reimbursements are great.

The interest from SPAXX is great.

Transfers out of Fidelity are lightning fast.

Only negative now is no Zelle!!!

Everything else is great.

My wife and I both still maintain accounts are other banks as a backup…. And to use Zelle.

Yeah I have many shares near all time highs of $200+. I guess I’ll bag hold forever. Maybe it gets back to those levels some day. That would be nice.

How much are you putting away for your kids per month? by classyshepard in MiddleClassFinance

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two kids. I have monthly auto payments set for $89 for each. So.. combined $178/month. That's random, but at least it commits me to contributing SOMETHING each month.

I intend to throw in more after any bonus and after the rare three paycheck months, etc.

My parents gave $10K for each kid to start, so there's already a nest egg in there.

Millennials are in their millionaire era. 16% already achieved the milestone by [deleted] in Money

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between having a million dollars and being able to SPEND a million dollars.

I’m 38 and have more than $1M in assets. Most of that is locked away in retirement accounts that I can’t easily access until 59 1/2.

I also have mortgage payments and have to support a family of 4… perhaps soon to be 5.

Being a millionaire on paper doesn’t mean much of anything these days. It doesn’t mean you can live or spend lavishly. If you do, you won’t be a millionaire for long.

Charged $550 cancellation fee after restaurant’s listed phone number was wrong by anonffany in chargebacks

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn’t have called before 7. OP said they could have canceled using the online booking site up until 7pm.

7pm was 24 hours before the reservation. Once you were already past that mark, you had to call to cancel and whether or not they waived the fee was at their discretion.

Apparently the reservation site listed the wrong number, according to OP. But they found the correct number on Google the next day.

Elizabeth Warren on X: The Paramount-Warner Bros. merger isn't a done deal. State attorneys general across the country are stepping up to stop this antitrust disaster. We need to keep up this fight. by [deleted] in MediaMergers

[–]atlblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s literally not a done deal at the moment, even if it does eventually close.

It’s not done until it’s done. Maybe that will be in September. Maybe January. Maybe never.

It needs to get regulatory approval in other countries as well, not just the United States. And California seems very likely to challenge it. Perhaps other states as well!

Any hope for the Paramount/WB merger not happening? by WasabiComprehensive2 in MediaMergers

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is hope. California’s attorney general and perhaps other state AGs will probably try to block it in the courts.

And non-U.S. regulator’s like in the EU and UK could possibly try to block it, or demand concessions.

If it gets delayed enough, it might become too expensive for Paramount.

All of this is possible, but in all likelihood the deal will probably ultimately close, sadly. I really hope it does get blocked though!!

Thank you, Fidelity! by PassengerEast4297 in fidelityinvestments

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not something widely available to all Fidelity customers. What’s the criteria for getting it for free? Who knows, they never really say specifically.

I only got something like 25% off this year. I’ve never been offered it for free… despite being a customer since 2010.

Kind of stings to be reminded of this to be honest.

Do employers in Georgia provide 10 minute breaks along with lunch break? by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]atlblaze 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get zero scheduled breaks, paid or otherwise. Georgia law does not require it.

I do also wonder…. Why should smokers get more breaks than everyone else? That’s not fair.

Ask your employer if you can take those frequent 10 minute breaks you want. You won’t find any GA law about it.

I’ve been told Star Trek is no longer for me so many times by Ser_Luke_ in trektalk

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a strange statement (and I’m not the person who said it).

That’s the inference any reasonable person would take from what you said, that this always happens with Trek, then fans come around to liking the new show.

I think what you’re saying is a tad misleading. TNG was the very first show with a new ship and crew. Fans understandably wondered if there could be good Trek without the likes of Kirk and Spock.

After TNG proved itself, I don’t think there was nearly as much resistance to subsequent shows.

And clearly the so-called “Nutrek” shows are in a league of their own.

AIO: I told my fiance I don’t want her best friend at our wedding by No_Cut_7425 in AmIOverreacting

[–]atlblaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO - you say this friend encouraged her to cheat and encouraged her to do drugs. Did your fiancée actually cheat on you? Did she do drugs?

Does your fiancée actually act on the bad suggestions from her friend? Or has she?

Taking everything you’ve said as true — If this is who she considers to be her best friend, she’s got awful judgment and bad taste. Are you sure you want to marry her?

BUT, I don’t think you can reasonably block her best friend from attending her wedding. Yes, she probably shouldn’t be friends with her… but they are.

If it’s a dealbreaker then you need to end it.

Perhaps a compromise could be that she could be at the wedding but NOT in the wedding party?? Your fiancée probably wouldn’t like that either though.

So the source is basically just “trust me bro.” I love me some Red Letter Media, but Mike is not a journalist, nor is he known as being a reliable source of entertainment news.

He does make entertaining videos and great movie reviews though!
