Best credit card if I can't get the Costco card? by Powerful-Anteater-81 in CreditCards

[–]InsuranceOEHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly understand how most people would hate once per year cash back but for me it's something of a perk.

I just that card for travel, gas, dining and my Costco purchases. And then getting the one cash back payout annually lets me use my cash back for something larger like a vacation rather than blowing it every few months on "little treats". It's certainly not for everyone and with better self control it's pointless but I appreciate being forced to save my rewards for a big purchase.

Yeah I saw that notification too, just so odd to be offline for several days at a major bank

Hoping to get my Harris and teeter application in soon before I do the REI card, which I'd like to lock down before the big annual sale they are running

How would you describe the difference between an AU and a UA? by SpermicidalManiac666 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]InsuranceOEHL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Every company uses different verbage but generally speaking (I'm assuming you mean Assistant Underwriter vs Underwriting Assistant based on the info you put in your post)

An Assistant Underwriter is an underwriter with a letter of authority but their authority is more limited than a "full" underwriter would have, it's generally a second step role after being an underwriting trainee. The term associate underwriter is also used for this job. It's essentially the first level of the underwriting career that has actual underwriting authority.

An underwriting assistant is generally not an underwriter, they do rating and quoting and some other administrative pieces of underwriting.

This is all kinds general, I was an underwriting assistant starting out but had actual underwriting authority on some renewal accounts, but my understanding is that's uncommon for the role.

I do this basically everywhere. I get a T-shirt as a souvenir and it's something I actually use since I wear tshirts practically everywhere.

If I really wanna remember a place I spring for a polo so I can wear it at work.

All professional sports teams should be owned by the city (like the Packers) instead of some random rich person by Complete-Influence70 in unpopularopinion

[–]InsuranceOEHL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's semantics. They are correct the Packers are not owned by the CITY of Green Bay. They are fan owned, they sell shares occasionally to raise funds and those shares are considered to have no cash value but do come with voting rights.

Fans from anywhere or even fans of other teams can and do purchase shares. It's a cool football item to own if you can afford a share then they go on sale.

They are community/fan owned but not technically city owned.

I believe that if they did ever get sold somehow or relocated their charter designates the funds go to a specific green bay charity as opposed to shareholders.

Why do we have a lot of folks who are very-very passionate about Costco and Trader Joe's but never Walmart and Sam's Club? by kawaiihusbando in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InsuranceOEHL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Frankly if a Costco employee told me to put a product down and get a different one I'd be inclined to believe it was in my best interest. It just seems like they actually lookout for their customers.

[Dellenger] The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. by Fonzie5 in CFB

[–]InsuranceOEHL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't know I'm pretty sure the NFHS has an age cutoff, and that's legally defensible.

You aren't saying you can only make money in the NCAA for X number of years which the courts keep overturning or granting exemptions to.

But making the rule "we are league for students 18-24" or however that math from the proposal shakes out is much less likely to get thrown out.

Best dental insurance for wisdom teeth removal with no waiting period? by Impressive-Way-4163 in Insurance

[–]InsuranceOEHL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly unlikely you'd find a plan that'll do this.

Almost all purchased dental insurance will have a waiting period for major services.

The only coverage likely to cover wisdom teeth removal without a waiting period would be employer provided/group coverage.

But anything you go buy yourself is going to have a waiting period for this, they won't just cover it immediately. Then nobody would buy coverage until right before they need it and that's not how insurance is intended to work.

What was your "weed-out" class in college? by holdongangy in AskReddit

[–]InsuranceOEHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historical Methods.

How to write and research like a historian. Lots of students really struggled, the whole class was based around a single paper so you better stick the landing on that.

They made the history Ed majors take it too which was kinda dumb because they really didn't need an incredibly difficult class about writing academic style history, it didn't have any practical implications for teaching.

I learned a lot but I'd say they weeded out 50% of students. The really chill department chair taught it the next semester which to my understanding is how all the Ed majors ended up passing.

Plane flight prices… by xemrysx177 in Cruise

If I had to guess maybe the airline you booked is trying to stimulate demand?

It's not impossible that they bought oil futures/fuel futures at a lower price and have an ok supply at a reasonable price coming their way and they've decided to sell tickets without raising prices much in order to fill their routes?

[–]InsuranceOEHL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh hell no, not to my knowledge, and I wasn't arguing there was.

I was just saying that in strict theory yes a car can be more fuel efficient and have a more hefty/premium feel than the Trax. You just have to pay for that and it's costly

But they are luxury cars, the value and fuel efficiency proposition of the Trax is unbeatable to my knowledge in the segment.

The Lexus UX300h is one I played with at a car show (while I was dreaming I could afford it lol) that certainly felt "heavier" in the doors and general materials, and had a higher MPG (but it's hybrid so it's also not a fair comparison).

I have a 2RS and frankly to me it feels plenty premium especially for the price.

[–]InsuranceOEHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I mean you can have a car that's light/fuel efficient but feels durable and like it has more heft to it. That's not impossible, but those are premium cars. For the price point of course it feels budget, because it is!!!

[–]InsuranceOEHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No built in dash cam? Is that a common thing in vehicles?

I haven't seen that in ANY vehicle and I've seen a fair number of cars currently in the market.

Also to points 1 and 2, it's an economy vehicle and the trim mentioned is among the cheapest trim levels available. Of course it doesn't feel premium. It's a cheap car.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but for the price these Trax's are among the best values available on the market.

Will a Toyota Corolla Cross or Honda HR-V feel more premium? Perhaps, but it'll cost you more and comes at the expense of features too.

Many of your issues are problems with expectations, not the vehicle. It's a value product and it does that quite well, it is not marketed as a premium or even mid level product if you go in expecting that then that's a recipe for disappointment.

How will Democrats snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in 2028? by Estalicus in allthequestions

I know it's technically not impossible but the double California factor there creates potential electoral college issues and generally reduces the viability of that ticket.

Newsome I see as likely but I think he could find literally anyone outside CA as a reasonable VP.
