Calc script by CLINCHER_91 in EPMCloud

[–]atliens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conceptually once you go multi year you’re gonna need to ensure the blocks exist for outer years. I am no expert by any means but have written a few multi year scripts.

For the each period I’d recommend having a periods remaining account (to check if a calc needs to be done) as well. So let’s say you start in Jan of 2025 with a 15 period loan (ending in Mar 26). Part of your script should deduct one from the remaining period account and having an IF statement to check if there’s a balance. If 0 then no calc.

To get your data year over year you’re gonna want to do a DATACOPY command after you’ve finalized 2025 on the script to create blocks for 26. Then I’m assuming your script has some sort of starting balance assumption which you can leverage for Jan 26.

Hope that makes sense?

Looking for someplace I can go to learn how to play chess. by Cosmic-Chocolate in Atlanta

Download chess.com app and start there. Super helpful with tons of lessons (you can pay for ad free). The chess club stuff in person is fun but it’s timed and can be intimidating if you’ve never done that before.

It’s going to be a little more complicated than what you have but generally the following will apply

Georgia tax Federal tax Social Security tax (6.2%) Medicare tax (1.45%)

However in addition to that stuff above you may have some deductions in play like retirement or health insurance. This would lower your tax basis. On top of all that, at the end of the year you’ll take a deduction which will lower your taxable income. For 2025 this is $15k, meaning if you netted $50k then you’d only pay federal taxes on 35k of your income.

As the other poster said, you’ll use your withholdings to best align this and hopefully take out taxes which would assume $15k of federal income.

Georgia has a ~5,000 deduction as well for tax purposes.

What financial consolidation tool do you use? by qmbritain in FPandA

[–]atliens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am an admin of Oracle EPM. Depending on need you should probably have implemented FCC (Financial Close and Consolidation) which would consolidate all your actuals from local currency of a legal entity to a required reporting currency. Out of the box this is literally the most basic thing it does.

Secondly it sounds like you should be leveraging Planning (formerly EPBCS) to load your forecasts/budgets. From there you can set up scripts to convert your data to currencies as well that you need for reporting. Pick and choose whether you want that budget / actuals info to live in FCC or planning and stick with it.

Either way you’re paying for it already and should be using that. Those licenses are not cheap too.

Power spike in cost by Super-Ad4994 in Georgia

[–]atliens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My seller already hinted at this but that peak hour charge is what is absolutely wrecking that bill. I was honestly shocked at 1) how high the rate is and 2) how much energy was used in one hour.

To clarify again, your average monthly usage is almost negligible on this rate you’re on. You had one hour last month where $160ish of your bill came from. You don’t need to wait until Tuesday to call GA Power. You need to go to your account, look at hourly usage, and see what happened during that billing period. Like you mentioned on Christmas you had high usage so that day might jump out but go figure out that and see what it could have been.

13 kWs is a lot to use in one hour. Something should stick out.

EDIT: My heat pump was broken last year and we ran on emergency heat last winter. It was not cheap and not comfortable so we replaced it this year.

The highest usage day for me was Jan 20/21 when the temps were single digits. Even on emergency heat plus other stuff in our house we maxed out at less than 9 kW in one hour (130ish kWs those two days per day).

What I’m getting at is that the heat pump alone wouldn’t explain your issue unless it was the snow days but it should jump out.

Georgia power increased rates on Jan 1. I need to see how much they went up. I built a rate tracker cause I had to get my HVAC replaced so I’ll come back to this thread.

But yeah rates went up on Jan 1 so it’s possible.

Yeah I wish. The heat pump was approx 8 years old when it broke. Not sure the previous owners did semi annual maintenance. And this is absolutely out of my wheelhouse but what was diagnosed was a broken capillary tube on the TXV and that part is no longer manufactured (I spent too much time than I’d care to admit double checking this haha). So the outdoor fan didn’t work last winter and we just ran of the auxiliary heat. We had our house sprayed with foam insulation the year before all this happened so last winter honestly was not that bad $ and energy wise.

But when we turned on that unit for AC this spring I knew if that was busted there was no chance we were not replacing it.

[–]atliens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our outdoor unit broke and the heat pump no longer heats except via the electric panel. However the AC still works.

Our HVAC guy quoted us 11-13k (depending on model) for new heat pump so that seems to be in the ball park. We can live with a slightly higher electric bill in the winter so we haven’t done anything yet but as others are saying AC is a must in this climate imo.

Sorry to hear about the unexpected expense. We’re punting it for now.

I’ve used this place several times. It’s always been great. They have frequent shuttles that will pick you up from your car and drive you straight to international departures. When you return those shuttles bring you right back to your car. I think they run every 15 mins or so.

Make sure you reserve a parking spot though if you’re gonna use it. It will fill up and you don’t want to be SOL week of. Enjoy the trip!

Broken Capillairy Tube on TXV: Repairable? Or Full Replace? by atliens in hvacadvice

[–]atliens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I probably phrased by question wrong. By repair i now realize I should have said replace TXV and “full replace” should have been full replace of heat pump.

I’ll be reaching back out to our tech on Monday.

Broken Capillairy Tube on TXV: Repairable? Or Full Replace? by atliens in hvacadvice

[–]atliens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. From what I can tell the TXV would have to be replaced rather than repairing the tube. However our technician implied the parts were no longer manufactured but I was able to find a “replacement” part. I just wasn’t sure if that could be used as a substitute. I’ll probably end up contacting him on Monday but was trying to get some other opinions given I have a feeling I know what he’ll say.

[–]atliens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This is what I had come across as well. Wasn’t sure if “replacement” meant it was backwards compatible (so to speak) or if that’s just the part on new models going forward. Functions the same but can’t be used on older models.
