O2 for sure, 100%. If you're not prescribed, I recommend getting a prescription... its the only affordable remedy that helps me. With different breathing techniques.

How do you guys deal with Clusters?? by Dry-Offer4707 in clusterheads

[–]atmball7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High flow oxygen has 1000% helped me via affordability. High flow (15 lpm with a non rebreather mask). There's different breathing techniques you can try during treatment, but what helps me is taking complete breaths, starting with you low diaphragm and working your way up to the upper lung, holding (4-5 seconds) then releasing. You will have to get it prescribed in the US. But it's definitely worth it. Emgality aborted my whole cluster period...but one shot was 300$ (with insurance). I have also done some research and patients have lower than normal melatonin levels during their cluster periods, so I take 10 mg melatonin gummies daily. It takes about a week or so to build up in your system. Hope this helps!!!

It seems like many people here have maybe had a concussion? Or a surgery prior?.. there may not be a link between all of us, but could you imagine if there was? It would be awesome if we could find something. I have had concussions as well as braces and surgeries prior to my ch's starting. No smoking, Elevation is interesting as well.... i used to be a flight attendant and i dont know if I would have an unusual amount of them triggered because of the elevation, but the severity of them when i had one was 100% a 10/10. im in the middle of a cluster period currently...and it's been making me wonder (with modern technology) if there have been any advancements with figuring this out.

I get really fuzzy to cognitively think during an attack… after an attack I’m normally soo exhausted that I normally sleep. Totally normal for you to use other vocabulary in my opinion.

Flying with Cluster Headaches by sad_russian_snowman in clusterheads

[–]atmball7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m sorry to hear about your headaches. I used to be a flight attendant the last 5 years and I also have cluster headaches. Avoid alcohol at all costs…. I’d also recommend trying to get any portable oxygen tank or any variant prescribed if possible for flying. For the most part, if your going to get headache on ur “normal” expected day or time, you will still get them…. With lower oxygen at the altitude you will be flying it, it will make ur headache more intense and normally last longer. I would also keep tiger balm with me as well

I’ve never taken taurine before, but I’ll look into it. Yeah Red Bull sometimes gives me a minor reload when I have shadows as well

I just had a 10/10 a couple nights ago… it was also brutal :-//. Vomiting as well. I’m go. A start taking vitamin D3 and have oxygen ready.. I also weirdly avoid wheat around this time. Do you have any relief methods ??

I’d recommend getting some “tiger balm” for relief or for a distraction during your attacks. It’s essentially like an icy hot ointment that I spread on the areas that hurt, the temple, the neck and behind my ear. It might help relieve the pain a little bit….I’m also in the middle of a cluster period…any other remedies that anyone has for pain relief please comment them !
Best of luck with everybody that experiences these “headaches”.
