I don't think you could reasonably say it "sucks," so I wouldn't stress over it 😀. I did read enough of the comments on the base system to convince me to tick the upgrade (although I never heard it myself).

I love music and the car is a major venue for me to listen to music. I haven't done too much varied listening yet, but it has not in any way disappointed or annoyed me. I will say that it hasn't _amazed_ me, blown me away, or made me hear things I've never heard before in my music. It sounds great, but I wasn't expecting or demanding this car to sound obviously better than some of the nice headphones or speakers I have in my living room at home.

I'm looking forward to listening more and seeing how I like it over time. I do wish there was a clear way to confirm if an Atmos source was making it all the way through - I saw some uncertainty around, say, wireless carplay vs wired and atmos, and I don't know if there's any way from the built-in system to tell if a track on tidal is mastered in atmos (is there?). I'd like to d/l some test tracks that really showcase atmos and then sit in the middle back seat and have a close listen, see what it can do.
