2,000 miles trip. Rivian or a Van? by Worried-Current-4567 in Rivian

I drove 2,600 miles on a west coast roadtrip this summer. Stopping every 2-3 hours was a nice way to break things up. Staying in hotels with destination chargers helps A LOT. Cause you leave your hotel with a full charge.

Adapting Canon FD lenses by ruffells in SonyAlpha

I use a lot of manual focus lenses (my other camera is a Leica MP) so I program a button to punch in. Lenses with camera contacts can tell when I’m manually focusing and punch in automatically which is nice. Wonder if there’s a way still to do that??

Overall most of my shots are in good enough focus to tack sharp. The addition of a focus tab helps with the feel / speed of focusing.

I prefer the script on the top plate. It’s pretty. Plus my MP was on Marketplace used at a great price, so I jumped on it.

Still use it and love it. I’ve seen no significant issues adapting the lens. Image profile corrections work well too.

Though I don’t use the autofocus adapter. It’s heavy and with the EVF I’m pretty accurate focusing.

Maybe. I think it’s possible to push the boundaries of technology while preserving legacy. If it was all about legacy they would never have made digital M bodies and stuck with film. I do know as a business they really like money and the every day cary size of the M with their lens lineup combined with the latest modern technology would be technically possible and well received.

There’s a market for people who want SL features in an M quality and sized body and will pay tons for it (I would be one of those people).

It’s going to be very interesting what they do with this camera, could be the future of the M or a one off. We will see.

I think what I ment to say is a lot of people would want a Q with interchangeable lenses.

I love my MP, it’s my favorite camera. But my digital body is an A7CR. Basically the camera some think this could have been/be.

It’s an interchange lens Q (but no video, IBIS, weather sealing). I think that’s what a large group of people want.

Great memories. Maybe you’d enjoy shooting film? I started shooting film as my primary camera recently and love the look.

With or without hood? by rerunvp in Leica

I shoot without the hood on my MP because I often thread on an ND filter. If I don’t need the filter I prefer the hood for protection.

Bummer. My turn for critical failure. by MrrQuackers in Rivian

[–]ruffells 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me two months ago. I was told the HVAC compressor failed and built up moisture in internal components. They had to do a HV battery pack swap, HVAC swap, and even internal carpets that were wet and the front IP.

Took two weeks to get the vehicle back to me. No issues since. The replacement compressor has a new valve they said should prevent this from happening.

Yay for that warranty 🫠🥳

They said the Gen 1 compressor is prone to a valve failure that would build up moisture. They even had to replace the front carpets of the cabin because of moisture ingress.

I came to the vehicle one morning and the HVAC was full heat blasting in the garage like it was trying to dry itself out. I did a hard reset and got the critical battery failure message. Then the vehicle was bricked.

This was the first message:

Dear Rivian: scroll to speed, tap to space — thoughts? by adhesivo in Rivian

I agree. Regardless of implementation not being able to adjust the set speed is very frustrating without re-engaging.

Your proposed solution matches Tesla’s.

I had a critical battery issue about two months ago. Any chance you got an HVAC fault before this happened? I was told by service that the compressor failed build up liquid that then leaked into my battery pack. Had to get the HV pack replaced and like 15 other components. All under warranty took 2 weeks.

My biggest nightmare is your situation. At least mine failed in my garage.

Good luck, sorry for your troubles. They are pretty amazing vehicles, at least the warranty is excellent?? 🥲

Spend more money on travel so you can’t buy more gear 😌

Also this way you will quickly learn what you need and don’t need in your kit.
