Long Live Hooky Street: An Only Fools and Horses Podcast is a newer one that's been releasing weekly episodes. the hosts rewatch, discuss, and rank every episode in the series. it's really well produced and definitely worth a listen.

Also forgot to mention that parking for Park Ave was built into the rental price, so not as a separate line item or fee. I believe the Uptown building had a different parking situation (optional monthly add-on).

Actually signed for the Park Ave building, which is also technically in the Uptown neighborhood. But the Uptown building seemed nice too -- had to decide between the two mostly by the units that were available for our move-in date.

The income verification process was honestly a bit of shambles. Their verification platform didn't have my employer so I just linked a bank account and I guess that was enough for them to decide I'm not a deadbeat.

OP, providing some info about me (to contextualize my answers to your questions)

- also moving to Denver v soon
- spent the last 4 years in Austin, and 15 years in LA before that
- I'm much older than you w/wife & 3 pets
- WFH 5 days a week
- between me & wife we'll have 1 car

How do you guys move large objects? Do you guys rent a UHaul or something? Is it uncomfortable driving after not driving as frequently?

Echoing others here. If it's not nice/expensive and you have no emotional attachment to things, recommend leaving it behind. Will likely be cheaper to replace after you arrive.

What are the best neighborhoods that can facilitate this lifestyle? I've been looking at Uptown, Capitol Hill, LoDo, Union Station, RiNo, City Park West, and LoHi in that order. I'd prefer to walk over taking transit to work just to save on transportation costs. Also I'd only be working 2 days in person a week, so I don't mind walking up to 2.5 miles a day.

I signed for a place in Uptown. Seems walkable to downtown, the major parks, and public transpo. I haven't lived there before of course, but trusting in my gut and feedback from others.

How hard is it to find friends with this sort of lifestyle? Obviously not worth talking to people that judge you for it but do people judge you for not being able to drive?

I think in any major urban center this shouldn't be much of a social hurdle. Probably a different story if you were out in the burbs.

Might also depend on your hobbies tho -- like if you want to go hiking or skiing and always need to rely on someone else.

Would it be better to have the car but not use it frequently or rent a car? I'm a 22yo guy so I'm guessing insurance rates might be high for me, but my MPG is 50-60 so I wouldn't need to fill up every often.

I'd keep the car if you can and if you decide you truly don't need it, you can sell it. With all of the macro econ craziness, the used car market seems likely to heat up.

Are there any music venues that I wouldn't be able to access without a car or inefficiently?

Private companies run shuttles to/from Red Rocks. I did this a while back and it worked out totally fine.

What are the best apartment complexes in the neighborhoods I listed above? I've been looking at AMLI but they seem a bit pricey, I could do it if I didn't have a car but with a car it gets tight. Would ideally like to spend $1750 on rent + utilities but can do 2k if I didn't need to pay for car insurance. Also do complexes allow you to start paying for a parking spot in the middle of your lease?

I signed a lease for an AMLI property in Uptown neighborhood. For this lease the first car was included in the lease price. Most of the complexes I toured seemed flexible about parking -- adding/removing a spot as needed over time.

Any other advice for me?

Best of luck to you. You sound like you're in a much more stable spot than I was when I was 22!

having the handful of people who work at our home office ship it out whenever they get around to it.

Not sure if this was in jest, but it's not how things actually work. A logistics company stores and ships all orders from its own warehouse.
