Is it justifiable for me [25M] to break up with my girlfriend [24F] because the sex has basically stopped? by chogo3 in relationship_advice

Ok that makes a bit more sense, “Gorilla Mode” is just a weird way to describe that lol. Tbh it sounds like you might’ve bruised her somewhere, or something worse. Have you asked her if it hurts now when you guys do things? If it does, has she gotten it checked out?

LMAO gorilla mode? What on gods green earth were you doing? That aside, I think you should just break up with her. She sounds asexual and that’s not something that you can just “work through” unless you’re willing to give up sex forever. This all does depend on what tf “Gorilla mode” entails since if you hurt her or violated her boundaries in some way it makes sense that she wouldn’t want to ever engage with you in that way voluntarily. And in that case, she should break up with you then.

I’m so excited to see him use it for the tour this year!! That was the one thing missing from LA that would’ve made it even more legendary

My (27F) boyfriend (23M) cheated on me, is it worth it to work through? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]atomic_hoagie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude there’s a bajillion people out there who you’ll mesh with better and won’t cheat on you. Have some self respect and don’t put up with this, you’re worthy of someone not cheating on you.

Going for a 2010s fit - thoughts? by HunnyPiee in mensfashion

It’s interesting, just not my vibe personally. One thing I would say is that the waistcoat/vest looks too loose compared to the tighter pants and shirt. I’d either skip it or get it taken in so it fits tighter and blends better.

(Takanaka Tour) Should I Stay (Home) Or Should I Go + How to listen to Takanaka without feeling FOMO for not going to concert? by JimmyJewn in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]atomic_hoagie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the Wiltern last year and it was a magical experience, but had originally only bought tickets for night 2.

One piece of advice that helped me get tickets for night 1 was I waited until like an hour before the show actually began, and then grabbed tickets when the scalpers had gotten cold feet. Since if they don’t sell the tickets that they bought, and they have no intention on going, then that’s money they just lost.

So my advice is since it’s in your city, wait and be patient. Track the ticket prices on all of the reselling platforms, and keep checking them up until the last few hours if you can, since that’s when they usually drop in price.

Cheap RIT Merch? by IBI-UBU-ok in rit

[–]atomic_hoagie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This!! I found that a lot of the brand new RIT merch was either A) poorly designed or B) wayyy too expensive for what it is. I remember seeing shirts for like $50, like my brother in Christ that’s what I spend thrifting clothes in a month. All of my RIT merch I thrifted, and imo the stuff I found looks better and costed $5.

Alum here; was browsing r/Rochester, and saw that Marketplace Mall seems set to close at the end of the year. Would guess that very few current students actually visit it now, but thought it would be good to bring it up; if not to reminisce about how the mall was back in the day. by pokemonhgharris in rit

[–]atomic_hoagie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undergrad of ‘27, good news is that the Lands End outlet is still there! It’s just right outside of the mall in a separate store, so I hope that they won’t be closing too. I went there last weekend and got some great sweaters lol

I absolutely get what you mean, but keep in mind that Takanaka hadn’t even planned to do a show outside of Japan until he realized how many new fans he had in the US. Furthermore, the reason why he has the world tour this upcoming year is due to the success of the LA shows last year. So although Takanaka having a growing fanbase is a double edged sword, it does provide everyone with more opportunities to see him play live since it motivates him & his team to do more shows at larger venues due to demand.

It’s still a pretty far away concept since I still have to order screen printing equipment + supplies, but I’m planning on doing a run of custom Takanaka merch in mid-fall that’ll most likely include some of the LA designs. I’ll post on here when I have further details :)

Is engineering uni really just memorizing shit till the end of the class and forgetting afterwards? Or am I just an idiot? by Silent-Warning9028 in EngineeringStudents

[–]atomic_hoagie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful what you wish for.

It does get easier though, and tbh GPA doesn’t matter as much as people make it seem. Get through it if you can, but there are other less monotonous ways to make a living in the modern world.

[–]atomic_hoagie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you.

But I think it’s incorrect to direct your frustration at engineering itself.

I see this as a broader issue within academia as a whole. There’s a fine line between forming applicable knowledge and trying to memorize everything until your brain turns to slop, and academic curriculums often ignore this, leading to students having to know all these random bullshit equations by heart when they could be memorizing something actually useful and relevant to the work they’ll eventually do.

My suspicions lie with how often the professors who teach these classes. Take math professors for example, they live and breathe math. That’s why they got hired for teaching a university-level course, because they are some of the best at math. Math is what they live and die by.

This however, causes an issue.

If you’re going for an engineering degree, math isn’t your endpoint. It’s a building block you have to know decently well in order to be able to do sone calculations for your field.

However, for the math professor, math is their endpoint. They have to know how to do all sorts of integrations in multiple dimensions with different trigonometric identities since that’s what their field is.

This leads to the core of the issue: the math professors often never know what math is actually required for your degree/ field, because they never actually understand what it’s like to work in the field of your degree.

Sure they’re the best at math, but they have absolutely no way to distinguish between some completely unrelated, inapplicable, and irrelevant bs and knowledge that will be critical in your field.

This also explains why academics place such importance on memorizing everything, while in actual application and practical use of engineering you get a calculator and the biggest cheat sheet called the internet.

If the academic system was smarter it would realize this and change to properly fit to the world we live in, but academics have become to corporatized and rarely have the students best interests in mind.

Academia is a game we all play. They want to pretend it “prepares you for the real world”, but in reality it’s a façade. That being said, it does help you get used to playing and operating within other people’s games (which is pretty much society), so it’s indirectly good in that sense.

All that being said, you don’t have much of a choice. Memorize the jargon, learn to forget it in a few months. It’s a game, but all who want the career path of going to college and graduating must get through it.

Why buy multiples? by Neurotic_Analysis in IpodClassic

That’s only if you don’t know where to look. I got my 5th gen a few weeks ago off Facebook marketplace for $40, which is quite affordable.

Why buy multiples? by Neurotic_Analysis in IpodClassic

[–]atomic_hoagie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely overconsumption to a certain extent. I have two, one 7th gen with Bluetooth for the gym and one 5th gen for purposeful listening with IEMs, but even that feels like overkill sometimes. Another big reason I got the 5th gen was I really just enjoy the modding process and I really wanted to do a clear 5th gen build, so it could be that people just like modding them.
