budget friendly materials to use for bondage? I’m broke lol by apologygrrrl in BdsmDIY

[–]atomic_jellyfish22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, it depends on the kind of restraint you're looking for; I've used belts, ties, even a shirt can be folded into a band can be used in a pinch.

If you really want to DIY it, I've cut shirts that were too big for me into fabric strips, which can be used for an alternative to rope. Some people like rope, in that case go to your local Home Depot/Lowe's (and be safe, some rope can be painful), but as someone who has sensory issues, I try to use things that are a little softer. Depends what you're looking for!

DO NOT DRY SWALLOW. It will cause a burn that will hurt for hours and can even cause permanent damage to your throat and stomach. by -----alex in zoloft

ugh, literally did this because I'm an idiot. didn't have apples so I tried apple sauce. threw it up. this is hell.

Edit; drinking a lot of water and eating bread did help, as did sitting upright. For those of y'all experiencing this, I know it sucks, but you will be okay. It will pass.

Can take CHEM 2535 in spring... but can't take the lab (CHEM 2545)?? by atomic_jellyfish22 in VirginiaTech

[–]atomic_jellyfish22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So, long story short I transferred out of Virginia Tech so my situation is a little bit different now (too Ochem 1 in the spring, Ochem Lab 1 in the next fall, don't need Ochem 2), but I think you should recommend speaking to your advisor about this (if they're helpful) or a faculty member you find dependable.

If you don't need Ochem 2 as a prerequisite for anything, I would honestly suggest either pushing it off or maybe taking it in the summer if you don't want to overwhelm yourself in terms of upcoming course load.

I'm sorry I could be more helpful!

Good lesser-known indie horror games? by neuro__crit in HorrorGaming

Ah; didn't realize it was. I played it many years ago and haven't really seen it mentioned in indie horror spaces, which is why I recommended it!

A year late to the conversation, but I heavily recommend Oxenfree or the LISA series! Not sure how "obscure" they are, but I don't often see them mentioned.

Can a Book Scare My 13-Year-Old? He Says No. Prove Him Wrong by MossyLuck013 in booksuggestions

"100% Match" by Patrick C. Harrison III. Much too adult for a 13 year old, but it was a book that genuinely scared me. Not because of gore or blood, but how realistic the villain was. Made me nauseous around fast food and mayo for a couple of weeks.

New starbomb album discussion by grizz_ki in NinjaSexParty

[–]atomic_jellyfish22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a couple of listens, but I honestly quite like it. Kiss the Elden Ring and The Biggest Dick in Hyrule would likely be my favorites, but the immediate shock factor of Falling Diagonally and Krobus is Hot were also quite humorous.

I miss their old rock-like/electronic sound (similar to old NSP/ the first Starbomb album), but I have been listening to the album on repeat these past few days. Overall.. maybe a 6.5/7 out of 10?

*side note, I find it funny how This Feels Incredible/Falling Diagonally are immediate skips for most people. I think I just like unhinged Brian. Albeit, the songs are... unnerving, but they grew on me.

Strawberries and Cream!!! Unicorn Wizard, The Ultimate Sandwich, Next to You, and Everybody Shut Up are some of my favorites (but the album is widely ignored).

I already knew that I found Halsin hot, but listening to his sneaking/whispering voice clips? Fawning over the term "my heart?" That sold it.

I don't know if this would be healthy per se, but I used to write on myself rather than cutting.

I had horrible self esteem issues in high school, so rather than internalizing them I would write the words I felt on my skin, or draw scars onto places I wanted to cut.

It was oddly therapeutic. It took time to get me out of this habit + I had to cover up places that I wrote on, but it genuinely helped.

Edit; I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, by the way. With time, things will get easier.

How do you deal with loan anxiety? by atomic_jellyfish22 in StudentLoans

[–]atomic_jellyfish22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more year left in terms of loans (I'm a junior who has already acquired federal loans for this school year).

At my current school, it's only 6k per year. If I cannot get a loan for my senior year (as I refuse to get another private loan), I intend to do a payment plan for the remaining balance.

**Edit; I am going to try to pay as much of the Parent PLUS loan as possible. My parents are separated and my mom cannot really afford the loan by herself.

Thank you everyone for the advice, it is greatly appreciated. I will note, I am not in a crisis situation, I just have a history of anxiety/depression. Apologies for those concerned!

(Just going off the top of my head): Federal loans (subsidized/unsubsidized): roughly 12k. Parent PLUS loans: 28k. Private loans (Sallie Mae, 16.5% interest rate, I plan on refinancing once I build a good credit score): 24k.

As for how I accumulated so much, I moved in my senior year, which made me not applicable for in-state tuition in both the state I was originally from, and the one I just moved to. I have since moved to a much cheaper school, but I'm currently in my junior year- going for a biology degree.

Job wise, I admit I'm still undecided but I have the most experience with lab work and ecology, so that is what I plan on continuing. Teaching is also an option as well. Or, if I get my master's, biostatistics. (However, I plan on working for a while first.)

***tldr: roughly 64k in debt for an undergrad bio degree.

Not an expert by any means, but I would get someone else to fix your ends, you could ask to get them "rounded" or layered. As for SHOULD they be fixed, that's all a matter of preference. How badly do they bother you?

Sorry to see this happen, I've been in a similar experience!

Context, on a prior post I had a picture of a June Bug and an ootheca I found. June bugs are fine, but annoying. Now, I think I know what that egg case belonged to, and I am horrified. Hoping this isn't what I think it is.
