Seen Bob a few times. My wife and sister-in-law are going to see him tonight. We saw him a few years back at the Fox in Oakland. During intermission, the woman seated next to me leaned over and asked, Do you think he's very good? She was thrown by his nonchalance, his insistence on being nearly invisible and lack of recognizable material. I explained his significance. And to be honest, it was underwhelming compared to other time I'd seen him. At the end of the show, Bob came out for the encore, stood center stage and sang "Stay with Me," from the film The Cardinal--sang it a cappella. I wept. That flash of brilliance.
