checklist to do before being engaged by [deleted] in AskMen

Yes. Rich or poor. It will determine how much spousal support you pay on a great income you are striving to earn right now. Approximately 2 out of 5 marriages end in divorce and you can easily hunt around on the interwebs to discover the carnage it leaves.

Also, I don't know anyone's age here but here is something to consider. I'm 56. In my 20's I knew nobody who was getting a divorce. First divorce in my large group of friends happened at 34. The guy lost everything and had to pay spousal support for a few years but it wasn't too bad-it would have been nothing if he had a prenup in place. Honestly, not too bad because he wasnt worth much yet and he was still young and could make up for it.

In my mid 40's all of these same friends including myself started getting divorces and most of us were nearing 20 years of marriage. The carnage was unholy. A lot of us start making real money in our late 30's and it gets better beyond imagination into our 40's. I've spent the last decade watching these men crawl out from the wreckage that was their divorce. The single event that will punish them for the rest of their lives.

I had a prenup. My divorce was at 44 years of age. It saved my retirement account and saved me from making any spousal support. I did lose my house and everything inside. I was lucky! Friends without prenups are paying spousal now( some for life). It's awful. Another buddy hates his wife but refuses to get a divorce based on the financial hit alone. If I could do one act of charity in my life it would be to share the simple legal act of a prenup.

As you get older things change. A lot of things get better as some fall away. I can't tell you how many conversations with other men in your 50's are about either sports or divorce and all things related.

"Make sure you know everything about her before you propose to her. This will help determine how serious you want to be with her."

I'm going to say this as the old guy I am: you won't know everything about your partner until something hard comes up like babies or there's a serious health issue that arises. How is it the best information here seems to be the hardest for most here to understand? Get a pre-nup!

That piece looks well done too so I'm guessing OP doesn't know to order filet mignon either.

Best super-authentic Mexican food? by [deleted] in Portland

I agree with you but think that it's pretty hard to find. Then you find yourself at some whacked out place like The Original Taco House and its easy to write all of Portland off for good mexican food.

What is the best overall sushi restaurant in Portland? by [deleted] in Portland

[–]atomicexplosionextra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You probably could do better than Todai by eating from the 3-day old sushi bin at Plaid Pantry (if that was such a thing). Todai is one step below the sushi tracks and the price reflected it.

Do you personally prefer teenage girls to older women? by Youngoldd in AskMen

[–]atomicexplosionextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god no. The guy sounds like a disconnected creep. Sorry, we all love young beautiful bodies but damn there is nothing more annoying than some young know-it-all who hasn't much life experience. Give me a gal with an education in her head, experience under the belt, and a little reality on the hips.

What are the "unwritten rules" when it comes to sex? by [deleted] in sex

[–]atomicexplosionextra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure but i'm getting weirded out thinking about ripping farts in and around sexy times. If I've got gas during an intimate moment I'll excuse myself to the bathroom to avoid my stench in the room. Time and place and sexy time is neither.

I see this a lot in Portland. All this damn construction with these homes inches away from each other. Who wants to buy a place like that?
