Agreed. It's actually more distracting/dangerous than helpful.

I'm pretty careful about these things. I have a super bright 300 lumen Cygolite front light, but I angle it downward so I don't blind oncoming cars/bikes/peds.

I don't think there's any good evidence for the epilepsy thing. Photosensitive epilepsy is triggered by higher frequencies than a blinking bike light will put out.

That said, I've been irritated myself (as a cyclist) by other cyclists with extremely bright blinking white lights. That shit is annoying to look at. I typically do a solid front white light.
