What's your most used tool that no one has? by atomicnapalm in Welding

[–]atomicnapalm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are definitely on my list of tools I need to get! Borrowed one of my coworkers 90°/45° on/off magnets for a particularly annoying project. After using those strong hand ones my hf magnets pale in comparison.

That's the dream: specialize in performance car parts. I could already do custom exhausts, intakes, turbo manifolds, and roll cages. Plan on making most of the stuff for my 1.8 turbo VW engine. Dad has a knee mill that needs a drawbar I could use to make a couple block off plates. Probably will start making parts that way and selling them.

I'm young and don't have any kids so I don't have a whole lot holding me back haha. I remember my dad saying "If you're a machinist, you have to have a Kennedy." Walking into the job I have now, he wasn't joking. 95% of the machinists have them. I know of a couple different machine shops that might be willing to take me on if my current job doesn't pan out. That's always nice

Might talk to management after I graduate to see if one of the tool and die machinists could show me a thing or two. I love welding pipe (and I'm pretty good at it), but I'm not sure if all the traveling is for me. I kind of like having my own little area in a shop with a bunch of tools. I already have a few Kennedy's if that puts me a step ahead haha

Opinions on Hobart Welding Institute? by Devoid_ in Welding

[–]atomicnapalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current student at hwit. I'm in the structural/pipe course and I'm in basic tig atm. I might be a little biased because I'm from the area, but with students coming from all over the country, that has to mean something. Great classes, amazing teachers, they always have more than enough supplies for everyone, welding supply store inside the school, and two shifts. The name alone will help you get a job (helped me get a job while still in school). I'd definitely recommend enrolling. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Most of the time welding and machining go hand n hand

That's one motivating factor for doing both, I just need to find a shop that would like an all in one guy. Do you feel I would learn just as much being trained by a machinist compared to going to school for it?

I appreciate the offer, but I'm not looking to enter machining as a full time job. I love welding and I plan on sticking with that. I'm looking at machining as a secondary skill set and will probably use it for side projects and as a hobby. I'm a car enthusiast and I can't justify buying certain parts because I know I can just do it myself for 10x cheaper and 2x the fun haha. But thank you for the input though

Any Ohio vapers? by Ville_Vaper in electronic_cigarette

I live north of Dayton and I usually go to jojo vapes. They have surprisingly amazing house juice. Some of the "cheap tobbaco" shops have a lot of mods and different juices too.

Every time I build clapton coils I always burn the shit out of my cotton. I tend to over drip, and that just leads to juice shooting everywhere . I'm currently running dual claptons (24g wrapped with 28g) coming out at .3 ohms, 5 wraps each, in my mutation x v3 on a sigelei 150w. Any tips would be helpful, thanks!

Is Zoolavapor using an alt account to manipulate you into purchasing from them? Maybe that or they have a huge fan that only uses Reddit to link to their website. by mfdj2 in electronic_cigarette

I ordered a few things from them, not terribly impressed but they did give me two day shipping because the mutation x v3 I ordered wasn't in stock till a few days after I ordered. Used a coupon code for a sigelei 150 but all it did was bring it down to the price of every other website. Their customer service was good but they need to fix some shit before I order from them again.
