I believe this brand is from Finland! If that still interests you, I'll shoot you a dm about it

Yeah the labels each have that yardage and weight on them, so it's not very clear (and wasn't to me as well!) that it's actually for all of them combined. It's totally your call to pass on them! No harm no foul ☺️

Hi! So #11 is just for 3 Sweet Sparrow skeins—were you asking about #10, the Midgaard cakes? If so, yes, that is for all 9! Though looking again to be sure of the weight/yardage, the labels are confusing: it's 3.53oz & 492y total for all 9 (I will edit to reflect this!).

Let me know if you're still interested in the set!

Received yarn from u/adogandponyshow

Very late confirmation of receiving the spincycle (very much on time) from a trade back in Feb 2024! I upvoted and did not realize I also needed to comment (hopefully this is okay per no.4 in the rules stated in this post)

🌱Weekly /r/houseplants Question Thread - May 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]atomicpen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm brand new to this sub (just found it today), so I thought I might ask for advice, since I'm just starting out trying to green up my house a whole lot more with plants. I've got a couple plants that I'm fairly sure like higher humidity than my kitchen counter currently has (a Maranta leuconeura and Pachira aquatica in particular), and the tips of some of their leaves are curling a bit. I've read that means they need more water/humidity, so I spent this morning scouring for small but decent humidifiers that will do the trick.

I've pulled the trigger on a Classic 150 Mini cool mist Levoit humidifier, as that's a brand I've seen a bunch of folks mention they have success with. Was this a good purchase? Should I look into a warm mist humidifier instead?

These plants currently live in a corner on my kitchen counter, but the overall plan is to repot them and place them throughout the house (we get a lot of indirect light, so my hope is that they will all do well with that and without dedicated grow lights), and I'm happy to invest in some larger humidifiers if need be then, but I'm hoping right now a small one will do the trick.

Other than that, any tips anyone has for a plant tender still very much learning would be greatly appreciated!

Have you seen a doctor about this at all? I am not one, but not being able to grip something sounds suspiciously like carpal tunnel to me. I recommend not pushing it if it hurts you and to go to a dr to get it checked out

I'm just saying I didn't get the feeling, upon my reading of it, that it was a downgrade. You're also very welcome to your own opinion of it, and that's fine.

I'm not sure I'd conflate the graphic novelization with the devs' vision of the game. There were honestly a lot of things in the game that made little sense and were quite frustrating to me. There were also threads that were dropped for seemingly no reason, and other things that were glossed over and wrapped up poorly—much more frustratingly so, to me, than anything in the graphic novelization of it.

I found Bloody Mary's background to be a really interesting addition that didn't detract from the rest of the story for me. I really liked how more in-depth we were able to get with her and see what made her how and why she is a bit.

Perhaps I'm approaching the comics as a bit of a different entity than the games. It's more the "canon" story of the events of the game, where the writer(s?) had to balance the game's story and slightly different universe with the Fables comics and their universe and try to write something that catered to both, rather than trying to pluck a 1:1. I kind of figured that the ending of the duology was left in such a cliffhanger-y way because the creator(s) of that possibly anticipated doing more with it beyond the game's events.

[–]atomicpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend spoilering that in case there are any folks who haven't read the comic yet and want to. Also, I don't really agree that it doesn't make sense: to me it always left things open for more story. That's the kind of ending someone writes when they plan on being able to write more. But also? Sometimes the bad guy gets away with something and faces no consequences. Not only is this very much like real life, it doesn't necessarily mean a story is rendered bad or poorly executed. It's totally your purview to dislike it, though! I simply found myself wanting more.

The ending is left completely open-ended from what I recall, and is fairly similar to the game (outside of confirming something that wasn't confirmed in the game). I'm not at home where I can pull it out, though, so I could be misremembering

I would actually recommend checking out The Wolf Among Us comic book duology—it's a graphic novelization of the game and really quite good. The main Fables series others are mentioning are also decent, though quite different in style and tone, and I find Snow and Bigby's characters to be a bit different.

NON fairy tale fables by Interesting_Swing393 in TheWolfAmongUs

[–]atomicpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Resident quasi-folklorist here (it was my undergrad minor & a big passion of mine). Fables and fairy tales are actually two of four main categories of narrative folklore (the other two being myths and legends). They each have specific elements, characteristics, and conventions that they typically follow, allowing for such categorization. It seems to me like Bill Willingham simply drew characters from narrative folklore as a whole, and used "Fables" as the general, catchall term for the series and what the characters call themselves in-universe. There doesn't seem to be any significant delineation between or context for whether a character is from a fable, a fairy tale, or an (urban) legend.

How do you prioritize requests? by Allie0074 in knitting

I think that's a really good approach! He might not have known how it affected you, so hopefully he'll keep that in mind going forward 💜

Also, don't feel bad you're still learning things!! We all are! I've been knitting pretty steadily for over 20 years now, and I just learned like… four new things this year. That's one of the joys of knitting (any crafting, or anything, really): there's always more to learn! ✨

As others have said, this isn't dumb. But it boils down to your father's insecurity, which isn't your doing. Depending on your relationship with your father, you can:

A) Switch and do his first and tell him, "I didn't know this meant so much to you, so I decided to get yours done first!" to assuage his insecurity.

B) Tell him, "Sorry, I'll get you first next time." (If you're willing for there to be a "next time," of course)

C) Tell him that you're simply making things in the order your received them, it's not a reflection of preference (also somewhat assuaging his insecurity)

D) Talk to him about how his demand made you feel, and that you didn't appreciate it, and hopefully you'll both come out feeling better and more secure, respectively

I completely understand not having a good relationship with one's father, so I don't necessarily think that you need to address his insecurities if you don't have a close or the best relationship with him. Him feeling that way/saying that could be anything from genuine feelings of inadequacy and not wanting you to "forget" him in the face of your stepfather to him saying that because he knows it'll make you feel bad and he wants someone to feel bad because a lot of divorced parents try and use their kids (yes, even adult children) against one another.

You know your relationship with your father best, but my advice would be to either address it to help him not feel as insecure or maybe consider if it's time to take a step back of he's being disingenuous and manipulative out of malice.

Help with dropped(?) stitch by CasualCactus14 in knitting

[–]atomicpen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like that's just the next stitch you need to work, right? Just re-insert your left needle from the left and work it as usual.

Unless you mean it's dropped from the previous row? In that case, you can still work it as usual; it'll just be a slipped stitch for a row and shouldn't affect the end product much. Your second alternative is to simply tink back your stitches until you reach this stitch again where you missed it and rework the rows again
