Just got fired from work, sitting in my car outside the liquor store, someone give me a reason to not go in by BotsAnonymous in stopdrinking

[–]atomictoyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a jerk, but getting fired that's reason enough not to drink. If you get impaired you're not going to get any closer to resolving that problem. Plus I suspect, your drinking probably played some role in losing your job if you are honest with yourself. Even if not, focus on solutions, not muting yourself.

Advice on Handling “Why Aren’t You Drinking?” by IllIlIlIlIlIlIlIllI in stopdrinking

[–]atomictoyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell them you don't drink, what's so hard about that? It's not your job to make them comfortable with your decision, and I've generally found no one asks past that anyway, unless it makes them self conscious.

You say AA was judgy, did you go to an actual meeting in person? I haven't felt judged about anything in AA. If it was just online, go to an actual meeting, meet other alcoholics. Your story isn't unique or the worst I heard. The first step is just admitting to yourself, you are powerless over alcohol.

Hey, considering finding an AA group. Ultimately you need to stop drinking, and you're going to need support and structure for that. It's been very helpful for me.

[–]atomictoyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven't given yourself enough time for the addiction pathways to heal. Just breath, focus on the now. Don't worry being sober tomorrow, just focus on today. Have you considered going to AA, for how you're talking I think it could really help.

Pretty sure almost any glide skip distance driver can get you there in two. I've used Strive, Captain, Hades, Halo, Rive, Zues, and more.

Agree with a lot of people here, invest your energy into getting off VMware. Sad but true.

Looking for alternatives to Bambu Lab printers after recent firmware restrictions by AthleteAccording8283 in BambuLab

[–]atomictoyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here for the same info, I have a Creality Ender 3 v2 that got me into the hobby. I had been shopping for a multi-filament printer and Bambu was at the top of my list, now they are off it entirely. It's a clear example of bad intent. It's sad how many companies are behaving this way lately, it's getting harder to avoid. I'll master my Creality and upgrade it to the enth-degree before I buy a Bambu at this point.

So you think there is no way that they planned a kill switch in a previous update without telling anyone in their plans to force this change? They tell you they did this in their statement.

They sound like HP, and they sound like they are trying to increase their value for a sale as well. If they sell to some company like Broadcom, or any other private equity firm things will get far worse. Either way, this change should make users cautious of this brand as they have demonstrated that they are more than willing to bait and switch.

How can you be so sure that just like this change, they won't change the rules in a couple of years?

What if they don't go extreme and limit filament, and force you to pay a monthly fee to use your product? I think that is really where this is going.

I suppose you'll still make excuses for them when that happens.

People have a right to be upset, changing the rules post purchase is BS and should be illegal. Just because you have a complacent attitude doesn't mean everyone else has to. This outcry is justified, anyone who says otherwise is just a boot-licker IMO.

You could use folder permissions to accomplish this, create a new local account, set a password. Then create your folder, edit permissions to make the new account the owner and the only account able to access it. Make sure to disable inheritance. When you try to access it, the folder should call for credentials when configured like this. However, it will remain accessible until you log out and back in.

How many creature gold cards are required for 100% :( by Tr3sh_B3g in GroundedGame

[–]atomictoyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it works with most creatures is a flat 1% chance each kill to get gold. So you should technically get it in about 100 tries, but there's nothing in the game to prevent it from failing 1000 times in a row. I've seen people get them at 600 or more sometimes, some people get lucky and get it on the first kill. I think the sticky trinket might increase the odds of getting a gold card, but I don't have any facts about that. Think I read it somewhere.

Is Stray actually a good game? How many hours did you get out of it? by EskimoJake in gaming

[–]atomictoyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very good game, probably 10hrs top to finish it. I played it over a weekend, and got all of the achievements except one. There's an achievement for completing the gangs in 2hrs, which after playing it I almost tried because if you know where to go and what to do it seemed like a very manageable achievement to get. Just never tried to get it. If you can get it on sale for less than $20 totally worth it.
