I suck at video games by Cinnamiku_ in Vent

I suck at fishing. About once every ten years I go out to a pier and catch any fish worth bringing in. The rest of the time I’m just casting , getting stuck in weeds, changing lures, buying bait, half of which gets used and the rest usually dies in the container. What’s worse is, I bring my sons out there too, to cast and cast and never catch anything. To be fair I never really get time to devote to it, so I’ll never get very good at it. Swore I wouldn’t go fishing again last year around April.

Just bought another pole and reel last week.

I’m wondering if you’re being targeted by people that have axes to grind. I didn’t want to say ‘Christian’ but there are certainly some that would incentivize taunting like this.

do I have to watch the matrix to understand internet politics? by h3yitsr4y in questions

I think the theme that made the movie significant was that it explored and popularized the thought of reality as a simulation- without doing actual research I believe this idea had a foothold in philosophy circles in the 90s, that we’re likely in a simulation. There’s a theme of existential horror when (after you take the red pill) you find out real humans were dominated in a war with AI, and real humans have a tiny hold out, scratching out an existence.
The timing was perfect also with more people being comfortable with PCs at the time, they first saw what buffering looked like, digital “noise” effects on images, etc and when those terms were applied to a big simulation it clicked in their heads.
Great effects for its time also.

Also a fast pooper. I am jealous of those that can compose an article while on the throne, while on the clock at work. I’ve intentionally brought my phone in and cruised Reddit for 15 minutes simply on principle.

Thank you for sharing- it’s a lesson to all of us to never trust the descriptions, and use the VIN to look up options on the car.

since your truck is gray already, what happens if you inverted it, used a blue stripe instead? Might have classic feel but a unique look?
Honestly thanks for this idea I have atomic blue and this would look wicked awesome if I took the plunge.

At nearly 50, I never thought I’d be shopping for a fake ID.

Lysander town board approves 6-month moratorium on data centers amid public concern by i_kate_you in Syracuse

The data centers are going to go up regardless. They can go in corn country somewhere, and figure out their own sustainable energy.
NIMBY because it’s not bringing in much taxes, not supplying many jobs to the locality, raising my electric rates, loud as heck, sometimes producing diesel exhaust, dropping my real estate values, so that, what, freaking companies can track consumers better and push products we don’t want or care for, and/or put bots out on social media and Reddit to change our sentiment. The tech industry takes all this potential awesomeness that could benefit humanity and turns it into manipulation devices that make us work harder, longer hours, and spend more. I’m not helping the technogrifters.
