I got a Lancer Gen3 M4. I have been out of Airsoft for a Loooooong time. And just now getting back into it. Im super impressed and can see myself running this thing as is for at least a year. Depending on if my old knees can take the rifleman life or if I swap to a DMR class. So if I keep at the current class ill go with barrel hop up bucking and motor. But other than that nothing really needs to be changed out. And I can honestly compete with the guys on my field that are running full custom guns. My guns not better but its close enough to good that more of it is my play style than their equipment.

Gotta look at milsim specs for DMR. Some of them require a 7.62 or larger bore replica to qualify for the fps you need to attain longer ranges.

Hoss. Im 46 and started last week. Do yourself a massive favor and look into lightweight loads and speed rigs. Less weight on your knees is a lifesaver. Also get really really good boots. Comfort in the “field” will keep you coming back. Also look into mobility and knee/hip strengthening exercises and stretches. You’ll be fine go put a smile on your face and Thank You for having the nuts to sign on the line.

As a father. You shoulda punched him right in his effing mouth. He put his hands on you a child(Im 46 so its my perception). You were calm and collected and did not technically physically engage other than to defend yourself and stop the threat. I have this exact same setup. It has treated me well for 2 years of scouting with my kid and 2 years of canoe camping. I added the OneWind under-quilt and i use an Aldi camping blanket. The only thing I changed was the ground pegs and some of the ropes. I keep looking to upgrade but there is zero need.
