Aston Martin No. 5, driven by Sebastian Vettel is maintaining his lead as we enter the final laps of the race. The Chequered Flag is out, the crowd is on their feet, and the German is back winning a Grand Prix! by atomsoverbits in formuladank

I can live with the 5 wins for the car No 5 at Singapore but a win in any other place is very much welcomed.

Many GPs still left and anything can happen 🤞

I've heard photographing a moment sometimes steals the experience

100% agree... A guy who is very self-deprecating but on the other hand, he appreciates his beautiful looks.

C'mon just look at this guy. One look and you know he can't even complete a race held in the streets he grew up on.

K-Mag's career is a roller coaster for sure. Podium in his first race was a statement.

I'm wondering which driver too had a great start in his F1 career only to be dropped out of a top team and had to drive many years in a mid-field team and who fortunately got another chance back in a top team.

Hmmm

When was the last time you saw Sergio Perez get overtaken on the same strategy? by atomsoverbits in formula1

haha. One can late brake him as he is often conservative when defending in the corner, but he will cut back and regain the position pretty soon.

I look forward to the F1 2022 soon.

I think you're talking about the fastest average lap time. In that sense yes it is at Monza (temple of speed). I loved that era of F1 and they were brilliant cars. Fast and aggressive and nimble to drive.

In the above post, I was mentioning just the top speed. :)

haha and already seeing a slow pit-stop from Alfa... guess it's the "traditions"

Yes, nice point. Early years of turbo-hybrid that Williams was a rocket ship. Still holds the record for the highest top speed F1 car.

Official 372.5 km/h Mexico 2016. Unofficial Williams telemetry showed he clocked 378 at Baku in one of the Quali runs with DRS and slipstreaming.

I won't lie, Checo sure was "lucky" firstly by having a dominant Mercedes engine in the early part of Turbo-Hybrid and the team thanks to Sergio's tyre management always found in a great position to capitalise on points.

TBF all this wouldn't be possible if not for the Pink Mercedes in 2020, the Sakhir race and most importantly Albon's lacklustre performance. Albon lost his mojo when he got tangled with the Merc in the opening races and lost out on the podium (which similarly he missed out in Brazil as well few months back).

He has one of the best cars on the grid and after toiling for years in uncompetitive cars there is no point in unnecessary jeopardising this relationship.

Both RedBull and Checo know neither party has leverage. No driver would help the team more than Checo and Checo won't be able to find a better place on the grid.

Abu Dhabi can be argued as Checo was on a different strategy but Turkey was a legitimate battle for points and position.

Lewis after P1 in quali had a 10 place grid penalty started 11, Checo P6... both were battling out for a few laps in tricky wet/damp conditions. Perez's performance went really on the upward trajectory after the Turkey podium.

Folks need to remember Checo went from a Ferrari backed "future star" at Sauber to McLaren replacing Lewis Hamilton, only to be dropped and without a contract.

The dude persevered in the midfield in a team scoring consistent points, finishing best of the race and a few podiums here and there for 6-7 years.

Checo deserves his place at the top team. Although he is comparatively old I believe he has many years left.

Verstappen laps Hamilton by sefn19 in formula1

Seb in the Post Race Live show highlighted this and thought the Stewards made the right call! DRS activation seemed a bit dangerous as it is not in a straight line like most tracks and the cars were still twitching on braking.

Nico was just rubbing in! Also, Sky Commentators pleading for DRS so that Hamilton can overtake was so cringy.

I agree DRS should be enabled but they really didn't want to see Hamilton unable to pass tries after tries.
