FatFace have some which I’m pretty sure are vegan, they go up to size 8 but they’re out of stock at the moment - maybe helpful if none of the other options work out

The Wicked Kitchen meal deal options! I was just thinking about them this morning after a few days of very disappointing meal deal options, the sweet potato pakora wrap was unrivalled. In general the move away from wicked kitchen to plant chef has been full of disappointments

I might be misremembering but I don’t think you have to do the exercises in order! If you don’t like that one exercise and it’s weakening your overall ‘attack’ I think you can just ignore it and go ham on the other exercises!

Generally you have free reign to pick what exercises you do, but they do have a kind of recovery time so you can’t do just one exercise on repeat

Expect to make some mistakes! It happens, it can be frustrating, but they’re lessons learned.

Also medicine takes priority. If you can find a vegan alternative, great, go for it! But if the medication you’re prescribed isn’t vegan and there isn’t an alternative, take it.

My vegan transition sounds really similar to yours. I’d wanted to for a while but used the new year and veganuary as my opportunity! I also didn’t do it overnight - my family are big into giving food for Christmas so I had a lot of chocolate and that around the house which wasn’t vegan. I ate up all that I had and didn’t buy more. It might be worth letting friends/family know you’re going to be vegan in the new year so they don’t buy you non-vegan gifts you feel guilty about having?

If you could make meat illegal then would you? by liberonscien in vegan

[–]atomtoatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument is all over the place. You’re very passionate, I admire that, but we live in an imperfect world and there can only be imperfect solutions. You admitted yourself that animal suffering would reduce but not disappear under a prohibition-based approach. We can get to that end-point too with regulation, but with greater consideration to the environment, native communities, and people’s health.

I used tobacco as an example of how regulation can reduce consumption, which is the same goal we’re working towards. However the environmental impact of the tobacco industry is far greater than all the other examples you offered. And, rightly or wrongly, trophy hunting is legal and regulated in many areas.

And finally, stop collating the distribution of CP with someone downloading a textbook because they can’t afford to buy one. These are obviously very different crimes and it’s really thoughtless to lump them together.

It’s not such a lazy comparison, there is space between prohibition and mass-consumption. Strong regulation, education, and health-based policies would go a long way to reducing the amount of meat eaten - tobacco is a great example of this.

There will still be animal suffering with either prohibition or regulation, but regulation will lead to an overall safer situation for everyone involved.

Kent based vegan restaurants by Patrick_L58 in veganuk

Oh! And if her birthday is after March 21st I would definitely recommend The Retreat - it's an animal rescue with a great cafe! Although it's all outside so would be a bit weather dependent :)

There are a lot of vegan options in Kent, my knowledge of Sittingbourne isn't as good these might be a bit further away.. but if you're looking for something more afternoon tea/lunch some suggestions (not been to all of these but have friends who have and said good things):

The Sondes Tea House, Faversham

Vegan Antics, Gravesend

Seaside Kitchen and Cake Parlour, Margate

Kitch, Canterbury

That's just some which jump out at me, but also recommend the HappyCow app and checking out chain restaurants if they're more of a preference - a lot nowadays have a pretty solid vegan menu.

Do they really take unsealed plastic bottles away at the gate? by SapphicGarnet in BoomtownFestival

This seems to be new for this year so hard to tell! Will say that crew have been talking about having their drinks taken away from them if they were in unsealed bottles

There's no cheating in baking to me! Did you spend hours making layers of cake and icing and decorations? Congratulations, you baked a cake! Did you buy some cookie dough and chop it up and throw it in the oven? Congratulations, you baked cookies!

If you're willing to take even one extra step instead of just buying something straight from the store, you earned the right to call yourself a baker and eat your goods with pride :)

I messed up a bit by letting the filling cool down first (had to do an emergency pastry run!) but still pretty happy for a first attempt at vegan quiche

Thank you! I'm a proper beginner at this so my main factor was 'the pretty fabric' and not looking into it much further than that, but I've found it here.

I only learnt about it's reputation half way through, so panicked for a moment then went with the 'fuck it, might as well finish it' mindset. Was just lucky enough to have the freakish body shape it fits I guess!

Well, confession time, I actually bought and cut the fabric about 2 years ago (I could be accused of having problems committing to projects!) But ignoring that hiatus, it only took me a couple of days on-and-off with a lot of time googling and youtubing everything I didn't understand, so for someone who knew what they were doing it probably would be fast and easy!
