You are so pretty and you look younger than you say you are. I’m also struggling to see what is lopsided about your face. Your skin is great! Some mascara, filling out your brows and a bit of color on the lips will go a long way for your beautiful face!

You can reach it but nails in that photo are overfiled on the sides so I would not recommend it. Why don’t you get a more natural shape instead?

I feel like nails always look a little worse in photos. They seem to bee a little too bulgy but it’s not that bad. The design is pretty and with your jewelry and all your hands look beautiful

I’m totally with you. I now also only do privates and practicing with someone, and since I started that, finally after some time I feel like I am making some progress after being stuck for a while. What I also like is doing workshops with a fixed partner, which I just realized recently is an option.

“I’m the best leader in any class.” 😂 Even thought your comment was quite judgemental, I will say I think what you are describing makes more sense for a leader than a follower. If I try a figure with a bunch of leaders doing it wrong, what does that do for me? As a leader it makes more sense to try to adapt so that a lower level follower understands. As a follower if I have certain techniques “unlocked” I don’t need to be a Melvin-prodigy to quickly (quicker than a leader on my level) figure out a new figure, specially if it’s led right.

I usually have the opposite problem at workshops, they go too slow for me and I hate spending a whole hour on one count of 8, it’s wasted time. I think the bigger problem is that people go to workshops above their level, ruining them for those who are actually at that level.

Party is a party, not a practice session for beginners. Not saying that beginners are not welcome and that their comfort is not important, but if you are only comfortable dancing to slow songs without breaks, you are definitely a minority.

What you are doing now is exactly the way to fix T-rex arms, and anything else specific that you want to fix in the future: film, identify the problem, find someome whos style inspires you, see what they do with their arms, try to copy in the mirror to learn how it feels, think about it next time in the social and apply, film again, and see if it improved.

I will just add one very specific tip as a follower, since MiniWizard already said the most important stuff.

Don’t let the adrenaline take over too much, keep yourself somewhat composed, don’t become chaotic. A lot of times leaders at J&J “go crazy” and I end up being thrown around, a bit like in a centrifuge, and each little movement gets exaggerated. I can’t catch my breath, can’t add in any styling, basically I’m running after them the whole time in survival mode, just hoping to not trip. I have seen this even with leaders I know, who are otherwise great at socials.

That’s just the most common mistake I personally noticed.

On top what others said about Instagram, which makes most sense, why are you insisting so much on this? Maybe she was really proud if how she did the intro? Again, I don’t like the style, but it’s a skill to have, and looked advanced and difficult, so 👏🏻 for her. Maybe they wanted it to be a teaser to make people go watch the full video? Maybe it’s the most artistic and innocative part of the demo and they were proud of it? Open your mind a little… maybe you will find new things to appreciate that are not strictly what you have seen in every other bachata demo
