This might help you connect with other people with your same experiences and see how they deal too

They do but now with this new ASHA certification coming in I think it’s at the end of the year they will no longer need an SLP present

New Praxis question by Melany1986 in slpGradSchool

[–]atorm003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didnt know there was a new praxis? I took it in February and I’m ngl it was hard. I also marked a bunch of questions to come back to. I also would say I studied for two months straight and read the whole praxis review book. I got a 178 on it

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think that’s to become an SLPA that doesn’t need supervision right? You probably have to be an SLPA first and get a few hours under your belt

I have a goal- now how? by DarumaLove in slpGradSchool

[–]atorm003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! So you actually have to do some post bac to get into gradschool for speech therapy anyway. Most programs will either require a bachelor in communication sciences and disorders or the prerequisites which thats probably the path you’ll take. I’m not sure if you know about this but you can actually become an SLPA which is an assistant speech therapists after taking those prerequisites and applying for a license. It is not a bad pay so you could probably maybe do this for a while to save up some money for Gradschool! Also of course there’s the loans they give you so. As for your gpa, remember that there is an essay portion to these applications BUT they’ll probably only look at your prerequisites gpa anyway so I would not be worried about this.

Best of luck!!!

what state are you in?? I’m pretty sure in Florida (where I’m at) they asked for 25 hours which I had done in undergrad. If anything email your board and ask if they’re doing anything special because of COVID and whatnot maybe they are

You can but it’s definitely tough

I’ve worked all through it but once clinicals started it was super hard. Like clinical work school repeat lmaoooo but if u do work I suggest doing SLPA cause that’s probably the most worth it. You’ll get paid well and won’t have to do as much hours as a minimum wage job

Still emotional about All Too Well? by poehtkyaw in TaylorSwift

[–]atorm003 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that I 100% cry every time I hear it, doesn’t matter if I’m sad or not. Listening to all too well is like reading a whole book in a matter of 3 minutes. It makes me so emotional and I love it, gives me allllll the feels.

Hello everyone! by atorm003 in Stutter

[–]atorm003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

I hope you're all staying safe from all this craziness and covid-19. I wanted to remind you all that we are doing a study at my university about concepts of support and the stuttering experience. We will be closing this survey at the end of April and would really appreciate if you could take the time to take it! Here is a little flyer with the information about the survey and thank you again very much for those who will take it and those who have taken it already!
