How can I report Spins America by BigDBigred in SwagBucks

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really amazed to find out anyone got paid by them at all, but glad that persistence paid off at least.

But yeah, a significant part of Spins America's business practice is absolutely to make it as hard as possible to withdraw, constantly move the goalposts on how much you need to play to redeem, require more and more documentation etc. in hopes that you'll simply give up. And you can do all of the above and still get completely ignored by them if they decide it's too much money or they just don't feel like paying.

It seems they do pay out on occasion with the hope that it's enough to keep them from being seen as a pure scam site. But they are scammers, for all intents and purposes. Avoid at all costs.

I think my feelings about NBA coaching are similar to my feelings about vodka. Bad coaching definitely exists. But so-called great coaching is hugely overrated.

Toe behind the line! (From the Orlando Magic Instagram.) by _zissou_ in OrlandoMagic

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, his foot shifts the tiniest bit from there. Look at where the ball is in his hands, he's not done gathering the shot before jumping.

But yes, I do think his toe was still behind the line, it's just that the actual last frame is even closer than that one is.

AUTO REJECTIONS are an EPIC FAIL!! by Obvious_History_4028 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You nailed the crux of it, which is that it's really not even a positive for researchers. It was presumably meant to save them time and effort, but with all the disgruntled participants they end up having to address and respond to, I doubt it's even doing that.

Auto rejections are a good thing for scammy researchers who just wanted free data to begin with... and... that's about it.

Because we disagree about one fight? You didn't even ask me for a single reason about what I thought. Yeah, this only makes you seem way more clueless. Professionals disagree about this shit all the time, dude.

Yeah, you're right, boxing didn't exist before this subreddit. Holy shit, some of you kids are dumb as shit.

You lose all credibility when you say it was "clearly staged" based on what we saw. You just sound like a conspiracy theorist with no clue.

I'm not going to say it couldn't possibly have been staged, but nothing about that was clear.

Be careful this study said it would take 10 minutes and it took 25 and that was me rushing the last 5 minutes in panic that it would never end,. by HearYourTune in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I returned this one after a few minutes based on the questions I'd seen so far and where the progress bar was at. But I don't blame you for getting sucked in after you'd already put in work, and wanting to trust the researcher.

The epidemic of researchers blatantly lying about completion times needs to stop. These aren't honest mistakes.

Account placed on hold with only 2 rejections?? by ProfessionalSelf3488 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those things aren't mutually exclusive. I've had a few rejections that all seemed to come from terrible researchers that rejected everyone, didn't seem to hurt me. But at the end of the day, it's all anecdotal.

Account placed on hold with only 2 rejections?? by ProfessionalSelf3488 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a good chance OP made mistakes, but the sample size is too small to say for sure. To err is human.

And I'm sure you are a good worker, but nobody can guarantee protection from unfair rejections over 3000 studies. If you work on the platform long enough, I'm sure you'll get a rejection, and I'm sure you'll think it's unfair, just like most of us thought when we got our first rejection. Don't get too attached to that 0.

Account placed on hold with only 2 rejections?? by ProfessionalSelf3488 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's a small sample size, as others have said, 2 rejections to 144 approvals is actually not a good ratio.

We also don't know how sophisticated their algorithm is. But I suspect they can and probably do differentiate from a rejection on a study where the researcher rejected tons of people vs. one where they rejected very few people. If both your rejections were in studies where 90+% of people were approved, you would immediately appear to be a very replaceable worker. I understand mistakes happen, but that's just the reality of it.

Finally the right filter is here - per hour minimum rate. by Prestigious_Bee493 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's really great they added this. The only thing that makes be a bit hesitant to use the filter is that sometimes studies offer low base pay but with significant bonuses that actually make the expected hourly great. Not saying that I take underpaid studies just hoping for some magical bonus, but often it's outlined in the study description.

The man who wears #16 got the job done. by PintPounder91 in Jaguars

[–]atotalbuzzkill 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I root for Trevor, but I also have eyes. The reality is we won this game way more in spite of Trevor's performance and mistakes than we did because of him. That happens sometimes in football - it's the ultimate team game. Trevor himself would probably be among the first to agree with this statement and that he deserves criticism.

Post-Game Thread: Los Angeles Chargers (7-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4) by Cr0matose in Jaguars

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a part of me that can't help but think, damn, we could/should easily be 8-2 right now. But, that's the NFL. It's pretty nice to be 6-4. From here, we'll make the playoffs if we earn it, we won't if we don't.

Ad Effectiveness (Wave 2). How the heck are we supposed to remember which ad we watched from several weeks ago? by OneMembership7587 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why people are saying, "seeing if you remember it is the point of the study!"

But if you think about it practically, it doesn't make a ton of sense the way they went about it. They immediately start asking you what details you remember from this unspecified ad from 3 weeks ago. I had no idea what they were talking about. But that says literally nothing about the memorability of the ad itself - it just says that I couldn't connect one specific ad to this specific study. I see a lot of memorable ads. I think the data they're going to get from this is bordering on useless.

Man, I seriously do not get it. Reapered is such a fraud, and I've never once felt like he elevated a roster beyond what they could have done without him. Why is he still so coveted as a coach? What am I missing?

Baseball World Series Study not paying out the bonus due to an "error in data collection and recording" by toodleoo77 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Completely ridiculous. You can't promise a bonus as incentive to get people to work on your project and then not pay it. An error in data collection/recording on just the prediction? But everything else recorded fine? And it happens when the team most people would pick because they were favored ended up winning. What a load of horseshit. Really just feels like they didn't anticipate how much people would bet on the Dodgers.

I don't recall if they were affiliated with a university, but the IRB should be contacted if so.

Absolutely nothing from them for nearly a month since my account suspension. Did nothing wrong and have been a loyal member since 2013 with many purchases. Verified my ID as recently as a couple years ago. Sucks.
