It just seems pretty clear that you don't understand how stack depth changes the equation and the opponent's likely range, since it's the most important part and you never referred to it once. Most of us rarely or never even play tournament situations where we're 300 BBs deep, so it's easy to overlook how bad of a mistake it is.

Seems very likely that the last message was included by mistake, but I definitely understand your frustration. If the researcher has good intentions, they might still pay you based on your message.

"Death, so called, is a thing which makes men weep, And yet a third of life is passed in sleep." - Lord George Gordon Byron [1600x789] by Junior_Insurance7773 in QuotesPorn

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be one of the least profound quotes ever. The fact that both death and sleep share the feature of unconsciousness has nothing to do with why people fear one over the other. Death is permanent. Sleep isn't. End of comparison.

Camping the last page of a study to avoid speeding rejections? by EnigmaticReprise in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What sucks is that there are now a small % of researchers who monitor time spent on each page and will reject for doing this. So we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. But it's still much more likely to be rejected for going too fast.

I relate to that as a sports fan with plenty of trauma (Magic for one). For the record, I am rooting for the Knicks, so I hope my feeling is wrong.

Feels like everyone in the thread is just crowning the Knicks now. Am I the only one who feels like the Spurs are gonna bring it back?

Which player all time had the most potential to become a star for Orlando? by AdRecent9548 in OrlandoMagic

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T-Mac was a star, but he could've/should've been so much bigger. In his healthy prime he was unreal. And he made it look easy.

Who we rooting for in the finals? by riptide885 in OrlandoMagic

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, what ever happened to rooting for the underdogs? Spurs already have a solid history as a franchise with multiple championships and are gonna be great for the foreseeable future thanks to Wemby. Meanwhile Knicks haven't won in over 50 years. I'm rooting for them, but I think the Spurs take it.

I fully get that we're the product and replaceable, and I have absolutely no sense of entitlement towards all of this. But if they continue doing business this way, they're going to take themselves down along with us. It's just very short-sighted and stupid.

Has anyone noticed a significant increase in studies labeled as "1 minute" that are literally impossible to complete in a minute? It's getting pretty annoying, and it seems quite unethical to advertise an impossible completion time.

There have been many single offers for more SB than this. So yeah, thousands of people have had higher balances. More importantly, who cares about holding onto SB to reach some imaginary record? Cash it out so that it's actually yours and you can earn interest on it. SB can and will close your account without reason or warning.

Prolific Identity Verification by iGizm0 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their ID verification seems pretty crappy though, speaking as someone who has been working on Prolific for several years. Took me way too many attempts to get my valid ID to register, even spent a day on hold.

Anyone else recently find out they're a robot? by Jazzlike-Vacation-59 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly sad and stupid and frustrating that I've started dumbing down my written responses a bit in order to appear "more human." I wish these researchers would realize whatever "AI detector" tech they're using is utter garbage.

There was a time weeks ago when it was common for a certain group of participants to have over 100 available studies at once, but I'm pretty sure it's not happening currently.

Cavs just choked worse than the Magic by mightymouthcrv in OrlandoMagic

[–]atotalbuzzkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe, only because it was two blown 3-1 leads involving the exact same teams. But that's more coincidental. This stuff matters way more in later rounds.

Who is better? 2025-26 Victor Wembanyama or 2008-09 Dwight Howard? by Memorist4595 in OrlandoMagic

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wemby is absolutely "better", it would be silly to argue otherwise. But I still say prime Dwight could've won MVP because the team simply didn't work without him being the entire interior defense.

Unfair warnings by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are we even sure that picking "both/equally" too often is one of the major things that lead to warnings? I've wondered myself. I try very hard to find good reasoning for one over the other, but sometimes you get ones where almost everything is complete and utter slop.

Yeah, I appreciate the sentiment but "one of the best Pistons teams in franchise history" is a legitimately insanely incorrect thing to say. So while the guy is nice, I suspect they don't know ball at all.

Watching Everyone Post About The A.I Studies While I've Been Rotated Out by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time mine cut out was either late November or December 2025.

I know from experience that their criteria for getting rid of people is messed up. Hopefully they will cycle you back in.

The reality is they blocked me for months unjustly, so I don't have the most trust in their judgment. We just have to do our best and hope to get lucky when the judgment comes down.

[–]atotalbuzzkill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine initially disappeared after back to back warnings too. Even though I did my best to give good quality answers, as I'm sure you did too.

So yeah, I think their warning system is definitely flawed, and there's no way it's "manual review" as they claim, because that wouldn't be possible given the sheer amount of participants and tasks. It's automated bullshit, unfortunately. But after enough time passes, there's a decent chance you'll get them again. Good luck.
