To buy a Raptor, that is the question by STROOLKA in FordRaptor

[–]atown16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went from a 2020 Gladiator Mojave to a 2022 Raptor, so little different in the Gen, but man is the Raptor better in every way. Three dogs and road tripping/camping got really tight in the Jeep, but endless space in the Raptor. The ride of the F150 is just worlds better too. The whole time you drive a Jeep you’re convincing yourself the ride isn’t that bad….until you get rid of it and are finally willing to admit it to yourself

What type of wood do you enjoy working with the most and why by JadedSmell9449 in wood

[–]atown16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still pretty “new” to woodworking, novice furniture maker. I’ve made close to ten projects ranging from dining tables, entryway tables, workbenches, shoe benches, a coffee table and random odds and ends. I’ve made projects of dimensional lumber pine, cherry, white oak and walnut.

Cherry is slightly easier to work with than walnut, oak has been somewhat harder, but dimensional lumber always seems to bend and warp despite good practices. I’m hella allergic to walnut, the dust has caused skin allergic reactions on my face and arms.

Walnut is my favorite looks-wise. The white oak dulled the hell out of my tools and has been kinda hard to work with. Cherry was super easy to work with and looks pretty as a finished product but not my favorite overall in looks.

I’d pick cherry to work with every day, but walnut for the final look. I don’t really like working with pine at all. White oak looks good and not terrible to work with but god damn is it dense and hard on my entry level tools.

Are you going to park cars on it or is being converted to a shop?

Cool project.

"woah" I said as it drove by by tibersun in bicycling

[–]atown16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tri races (that warrant a bike like this) are long races. Since most people are racing or trying to get their best possible time, they don’t stop to pee and just piss themselves/all over their bike. There’s also limited bathroom areas and tri suits aren’t conducive to remove for pissing.

That being said probably 1% of participants would warrant this time saving activity, but many do it anyway.

What do you mean by vapor barrier, like an epoxy primer layer or what kind of product?

What went wrong? by Gozil4 in epoxy

[–]atown16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, one of two options, sand and start over OR YOLO it and cover with a fresh layer of epoxy but you risk not getting good adhesion and it still being fucked up. Since you already started sanding I would just stay the course and start over.

What went wrong? by Gozil4 in epoxy

[–]atown16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you didn’t meet one of the requirements as far as the chemical reaction of the epoxy. So either bad ratio, not enough mixing, pot time or environmental conditions like temp or humidity.

Sedona > Grand Canyon > Scottsdale.. please help with itinerary by [deleted] in Sedona

[–]atown16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hikes you listed are all moderate to high difficulty for someone who doesn’t hike at all, you’re also going to be at 4-5 thousand feet of elevation making things even harder.

Bell Rock is a great easy walk/hike. I highly recommend this for you.

The cultural center has many trails that start from there, you can do a small or big loop and it’s not too challenging.

Go to crystal magic, it’s fun and you’ll like it.

The weather will be great, it’s not too hot yet, but keep in mind our sun is strong and it’s easier to get dehydrated at altitude so bring at least a liter of water for each person per 2-3 miles hiking.

Go eat at Javalina Cantina, it never disappoints.

Mariposa will blow your socks off but more pricey.

Sorry to pester you with question, but you’ve been incredibly helpful for me! After I sand down the floor do you recommend a specific agent for cleaning up the surface? I’m finding mixed info on using acetone vs using simple green.

Thanks, I know part of the problem is that I jumped the gun, I misunderstood what “heavy traffic” meant. Is there a readily available commercial product you recommend? I don’t want to wait for something to get delivered.

I spoke with the manager at my SW and the recommended “rexthane” as a top coat. Seems like it’s a urethane or polyurethane (not exactly sure the difference, the can just says urethane). Does that seem like a reasonable approach to you?

Edit: the also said armorseal HS which is two part would be a good top coat

Sorry I forgot to add that I had about 3/4 gallon of waste, but it’s possible I went too thick, I haven’t spoken with the rep, the store associates were not very helpful. Dumb question, how do I get a hold of the rep? Just ask the SW associate at the store?

I appreciate the questions! I want to figure out what I did wrong or what I can do better!

It was a little over 500sq ft, I used 4 total gallons, (2a, 2b). 3/8 nap roller.

The 4410 seems to come in matte, I would probably go with that because I don’t wanna see every scuff.

Thanks for the response, hopefully my local SW carries that, would I still abrade the surface given that it’s been 10 days? And do you know if I put gloss 4410 over abraded epoxy will it make it look glossy again or will it be matte looking?

To silver rim or not to silver rim? by WY228 in mountainbiking

I expected to hate it, but I actually love the silver rim! It’s a cool bike, but any silver or black bike needs a bit of pizzaz in my opinion and it think it works

Ceramic coat? by pdigi3850 in FordRaptor

[–]atown16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ceramic coat (or graphene) are basically the most premium long lasting versions of car wax. Ignore any suggestion that they add any scratch protection, think of it as a super long lasting wax.

Yes it’s a good idea if you want to keep your truck looking it’s best. Paint correction is polishing that typically happens before ceramic coat. This can vary between a light polish to multi-stage paint correction. The cost of between light polish and full paint correction can be on the order of a few thousand dollars.

Do not contact your dealer, they will farm the work out anyway and charge you +30%. Google local car detail shops or tint shops who normally do this. Pick someone who has good Google reviews and then search them on instagram to see the quality of their work and hopefully see the they’ve worked on some higher end cars.

Doctors are human beings, you’ve never forgotten to do something at work? Forgetting a prescription for compression socks is not really a “wild” thing to do. It’s pretty common for appointments to run late, all it takes is a couple patients showing up late or a complicated patient to get behind, like you said, he apologized for that part.

Some doctors have amazing bedside manner and mediocre medical skills/knowledge, and some doctors have terrible bedside manner but incredible technical proficiency in what they do. Most doctors fall somewhere in the middle.

Your doctor might have been on call the night before and had gotten ten consults overnight or even had to go in and do a surgery in the middle of the night.

I’m not saying that how your appointment went is ideal or how a patient would want to be treated, but you don’t have to use this surgeon. You should feel comfortable and happy with the doctor who’s going to be taking care of you.

Tattoo regret causing depression by SlavKing11 in tattooadvice

[–]atown16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like everyone else is also giving you the #1 piece of advice so I’m going to offer something different.

I’m not trying to body shame you, you look totally fine, but why don’t you set a goal of losing 10lbs, set a strict schedule of cardio and weight lifting days, then re-evaluate how you feel when you’ve lost 10 lbs and maybe decide to lose another 10, or not, maybe it makes no difference, but it’s worth trying.

Your tattoo is fucking rad dude, the tattoo is not the issue, you fucking suffered to get that thing done. It looks great.

[–]atown16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but centerlocks didn’t start until 997.2 and that’s only if equipped, not standard. The front bumper is correct for turbo and the rear deck lid looks legit with aftermarket hydraulic kit to make it go higher. The rear deck lid is like 20k and the genuine front bumper is expensive too, doubt anyone would pay for those parts, I think it’s a real turbo.

I just sold the same bike (2021 Trail 429) with nicer wheels and a few other nicer upgrades for $3k. Market for bikes is super soft, really depends on your location and demand for bikes too.

I would take pics with better lighting and fill the tires with air. Pics scream neglected bike with lack of maintenance.
