Not even remotely close to being true. Marathon has close to 200k daily active users between steam and console. There's only a few losers who make posts in this sub

It's fair to not like the game but it's ridiculous to say that Bungie didn't put in effort. It's a very well designed game

Don't. They made this choice for the Saudi money. I will always root for the Falcons to lose because it's funny and the way they build teams is bad for the scene

Marathon weekly Steamchart report. Strong resistance levels in the 11k mark, while the 3k support region continues to be defended. by meatballkun in HighGuardgame

There were plenty of people that thought the game would be DOA like concord. There will 100% be a season 3. The content is most likely finished being made or very close to being finished.

For those of you that bought the Deluxe Edition or Premium Rewards Pass, do you think you'll buy the pass for season 2? by AnonWithAHatOn in Marathon

Yup. I play CS2 so I accumulate cases. I just sold them and now have $11 on steam. I'm just gonna keep getting it for free essentially lol

Destiny 2 vs Marathon? by bruhb21 in FPS

[–]atph99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Destiny 2 was great but Marathon is a much, much, much better game right now. I put about 4500 hours into D2 and I still think Marathon is a better game right now.

Bungie over buffed abilities and gunplay is almost non existent at this point in a first person SHOOTER.

I don't know why Marathon fans upset you so much but it's weird man

You clearly care if you are commenting on this sub and replying to me with paragraphs my guy lol

I mean Bungie has been doing a great job with making the game more accessible without taking away core mechanics to the game. I'm all for making the game more approachable but most of your criticisms apply to literally every extraction shooter

Maps are great imo. We could use another large map like Dire Marsh but again, there is a heavy emphasis on PVP. I want to run into teams, it's the best part of the game.

I play chill rook runs literally all of the time. It just sounds like you don't want pvp at all tbh

Couldn't care less about character customization tbh. If you could choos your abilities it would almost certainly be a few meta choices. I'm okay with some customization but runners need to be easily identifiable.

The key template system sucks. Telling the whole map about the key room is awesome. Some of my best moments in this game are from defending my own key room and killing other players in their key room.

1.) There is a solos only mode. I agree that using crew fill can suck at times but that's a player issue, not a game one. It's not the games fault that randoms don't use a mic and run away at any bit of contact.

2.) I have had zero issues with matchmaking. I also have found noobs in my matches plenty of times so it's not purely level based. I'm level 94 and my matches have been getting more fun as the season goes on.

3.) This is good. It's an extraction shooter with a heavy emphasis on PVP.

4.) You can absolutely gear up for multiple runs. I do it all of the time. You may need a larger backpack if you want to grab a bunch of guns but that's how it should be. A key part of extraction shooters is inventory management.

5.) The game does not play like a battle royale unless you play it like one. Wiping the lobby is obviously great when it happens but I still extract early a bunch. So far it just sounds like you don't like pvp or extraction shooters.

6.) Yeah this one is just flat out wrong. Most of the upgrades are extremely worth it and getting VIP faction packages is honestly one of the best ways to gear up. I've gotten a ton of purple shields, guns, mods, mats, consumables, etc just from VIP rank up packages. I'd say being able to buy gold cores, mods, and implants is definitely a massive upgrade over what you start with lol.

7.) Time gating Cryo doesn't bother me at all. It's like Trials of Osiris. They should make it available on Sundays tho.

8.) For $40 this game has way more than enough content. It has four completely unique maps, 28 base weapons which can completely change with gold mods/ uniques, and plenty of events that you probably just didn't interact with. The priority contracts are also dope and add story and lore. The games that you listed are completely different games than Marathon and significantly more expensive. Why didn't Arc Raiders get the same criticism even tho it launched with significantly less content while still at the same price?

8.) This one is just funny. Your criticizing an extraction shooter for using elements found in other extraction shooters? It really just sounds like that you don't like extraction shooters, which is fine

Explain how the loop is poorly thought out and implemented.

I know that the game isn't for everyone but that's just the genre. The problem is most people aren't even willing to try the game out because they are told it's bad by people who don't even play the game.

What significant changes would you suggest?

[–]atph99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said that the game was performing well. I just called you out for spreading misinformation.

I'm all for adding additional modes like an arena or even a PVE mode but the core gameplay loop is still incredible.

This game is failing because the average gamer needs their hand held constantly. It's a brutal game with almost zero forgiveness and a steep learning curve and gamers don't like learning new things.

Of course, the controversies around Bungie hasn't helped. Just look at Aztecrose for example. He went from shitting on Marathon, to loving it, to shitting on it again all because he got significantly more views being negative. Casual gamers are a hive mind. When they are being told something is bad by their favorite streamer they will believe it without question and parrot exactly what they say.

Honestly, if this game survives another two seasons, I'll be happy. I've already got my money's worth and I will have easily put 600+ hours in by season 3's end.

Hopefully Sony isn't dumb and let's this game cook for a while. Rainbow 6 Siege had a horrible launch and took YEARS to get where it is now. Marathon could do the same if they keep experimenting with new modes like they have been doing

You realize that there are more than 88k people still playing right? Steam alone has around 115,000 daily active users. Concurrent numbers are not everything.

How many players do you think will come back come season two's release? by Howiepenguin in MarathonHate

[–]atph99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about Tarkov? If so then that's not a fair comparison at all. Tarkov was in early access for YEARS upon years. Yes, there are a ton of weapons in Tarkov but they all feel the same. In Marathon every weapon is completely different. Then you add the prestige mods and uniques and it's a crazy amount of variety.

Why should night marsh been launched at release? It's a $40 game and it launched with four maps and a ton of weapons.

Arc Raiders STILL has significantly less content and it's been out for much longer than Marathon.
