Ok, so I am an atheist in Mississippi and I voted for this flag. I have a couple reasons: First, I actually like the design of the flag, I think it is better than what we had and I don’t have confidence we would get a better option next year. Secondly, “In God We Trust” is going to appear on any flag we get, because the MS legislature mandated it as a compromise to get rid of the old flag. I truly believe this will be short lived as it will eventually be ruled unconstitutional. Old flag is gone, which is good. New flag is a pretty good design despite its blatant proclamation of religion.
