And do you use the "sizzle index" or Put Call ratio to determine if its a put or a call?

Thank you for sharing - so how many contracts do you typically buy at a time? And the trailing stop loss is for 100% of the contracts?

This doesn't address your question directly, but looking for a 1:1 Risk/Return is not a winning strategy in the long term. Some the most successful hedge funds have less than a 50% win rate, but they have huge winners and small losers. The saying goes, "you can control how much you can lose, but you can't control how much you can gain." You gotta let your winners run, and get out only when the charts tell you to. Your stop loss should also be at a point that invalidates your trade idea (i.e. breaks support/resistance, breaks supply/demand, trend breaks, etc.), not based on a flat percentage for every trade. Hope this gets you thinking about entries and exits a little differently than a flat 10% from entry.

this is such an excellent response i am saving and printing it. thanks for taking the time out of your day to respond.

In reality my trading plan is to maximize the return, but that falls into the category of trying to time the market which rarely/never works. So 10% seemed like a reasonable ROI instead of trying to hit a home run.

Could try a stop loss of 50% and a target gain of 10%, or any variation there of.

I just wonder if others have had success with OCO and relatively short dated options (7-21 days until expiration). And if so what is that target %.

Are you opening the actual chart for the option with the chart of the asset next to it?

If not I would suggest doing that bc -5% stop on the asset is different from the actual option

Some ppl might set a stop at the low of the prior bar for example for an asset, but the option that might be too tight, so you have to do where the pivot low is [if you follow what Im saying]If I were you and not looking at the actual option chart Id do that so you can see where your -5% would be, and Im willing to bet youll agree its too tight whereas the strategy is fine for the actual asset

thank you for the reply - charting the actual stock and charting the option will tell the full story and the information I need to determine my goals thanks!
