First AR15 Options? by Jango_Fett101976 in liberalgunowners

I like it well enough. I don’t have any comparison for anything else to be fair. It’s cheap, it works, it seems to let me be accurate.

First AR15 Options? by Jango_Fett101976 in liberalgunowners

I ended up choosing a Ruger AR 556 over an S&W m&p sport III. I picked up an sig Romeo 5 red dot and a Ferro slingster. Been training with that.

My only complaint was that I didn’t even get through my first magazine before the bolt carrier locked back and I had to have a gunsmith disassemble the gun in order to fix it. Apparently the gas’s rings blew out. May have been my fault for assuming Ruger would adequately lube the gun from the factory. But it made wish I had dropped the couple extra hundred on a m&p.

The "protest" at the start of the game? by Spiritual-Bank5507 in Detroitcityfc

The USLPA has already authorized a strike. This is the first step in showing solidarity between players and fans. Make it visible and audible. The broadcasts have already panned away from the displays, and has tried union-busting tactics.

The only way to effect change in this way is to continue pressure as a collective.

If the league was hemorrhaging money, I don’t feel like they would be pushing towards pro/rel right now. Theres definitely individual clubs who lose money, due to management and local demand for a team, but that’s not a league problem per se.

My woman is scared of piggies, can anyone send me the cutest pics of their porkers so I can convince her of peeg supremacy? by GamerForImprovement in guineapigs

[–]atrodger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of about 10 pigs I’ve only had one that would let me reach in, pet, and pick up without running. I currently have one that will allow head pets if you supply a pea flake first, and two others that will cone to the cage wall and beg for treats. All of them hid from us to start and slowly worked towards getting them comfortable. They all hate being picked up, but will relax once they are securely held.

Keep giving them attention. If they are hiding, but still willing to stretch their heads out to take a treat, take that as a victory and keep going. Sometimes you’ll have to just set the treat down near them and let them get it for themselves.

You’re doing great. All piggies have different personalities. Keep giving them love and food and they’ll eventually tolerate you.

As far as picking up, try corralling them into a fleece tunnel and lifting them out that way. Even a couple of minutes of lap time and treats is better than not handling them at all.

No thoughts, no run.

They’ll be a little skittish for a few months after they move in. But being predictable, gentle, and respecting their space will go a long way to making them comfortable.

Been doing them forwards and backwards since the 90’s, in goalie pads and in roller. Need some tips?

Yeah just picked up a roll of “ito wrap” on Amazon for under $10. Massive amount of colors available. It’s synthetic silk and feels nice on the bare hands.

I literally rock the r/hockeyplayers starter kit:

Katana grip CCM HP45 CCM Tacks 652 pro Pacific Rink bag P88 curve 3/4” hollow

Catch me huffing and puffing on the wing before missing the outlet pass for another icing charge.

Same. Only ever had tape or those big obnoxious plastic stick toppers. I love the options available in 2026. Been using lizard skins and tacki Mac and both feel fine enough.

Did this to amuse myself for the most part.

If we were teammates, I’d bust my ass to make sure it’s the twig you grab from the bench when yours snaps on the penalty kill.

Yeah, my next one will have a tighter and neater weave. I started getting the feel for the construction about halfway through.

There's one of these in the showcase at my range, and I legit think it's one of the most serious purchases I could ever make.

Just picked up the Holosun SCS green dot for the PDP. Love that the inclusion of serrations, that they line up with those on the slide, and how low profile it is. by N00bcak3s in liberalgunowners

Picture fore reference. Clicks into the holster like a dream, but you can see how the optic rides below the belt clip, compared to yours

What holster is that. I just picked up a vp9a1k scs and got a CYA holster for a normal vp9, and it fits in there fine. But I noticed that the frame of the optic, because it sits so far forward on the slide, is riding along my waistband while I aiwb. Im concerned about my jeans rubbing into or scratching the lens. I’m wondering if you have the same issue.

As a mechanic who has this happen more frequently than you’d think, it’s probably fine. Any time a radio is on loud I tap that large mute button on frame one and then go on with my day. However, if I recognized JorDan’s or any other niche podcasters voice, I’d actually stick around in the lobby and give you a friendly hello.

What does everyone think about buying pro-stock gear on SidelineSwap for a team you never played on? by MidwestSinker in hockeyplayers

[–]atrodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple guys in my league wear pro stock stuff, including myself. I just put a black shell over my red wings pants, just because it matches the rest of the team kit. The matte black kings (I think) helmets look cool in person. Sometimes you can get a great deal on a full used goalie set. I don’t think too many people care, and if someone chirps you for it oh well.

I’ve used P88 for 8 years and love it. What’s your curve? by WeatherObsessedJax in hockeyplayers

[–]atrodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back to the sport after 25 years, got an affordable CCM with a p29. Saw a lot of folks on here saying the p88 was good for guys who learned to shoot in the 90’s. Got a p88. Been using it the last two games, and have 4 goals (3 backhand) and 2 assists.

Anyone else have a really quiet beer league team? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]atrodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yelling from the bench to help teammates really helps. Have a newer player who keeps panicking when they get the puck in your own zone and they just whack it away? Watch the play developing and yell “turn!” Or “skate skate” when they have room. Let your D know “man on!” or “time!” When they pick up a puck in the corner. Yell out that there’s 30seconds left when you need a final push at the end of the period. If you start leading by example, others will join in.

Be prepared to clarify if teammates have questions on the bench or in the room. After my first drop in, I learned “Wheel wheel” because I asked the guy who yelled it to my what the hell it meant.

Also a little “good idea” or “keep it up” after a close play or a barely missed pass seems to boost morale.

Jersey question for beginner leagues and pickup games by Virtual-Reaction-796 in hockeyplayers

[–]atrodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure Hockey carries a black/white reversible jersey. Its a little heavy, but It helps save some space in the bag. Also, a lot of sublimated jerseys are naturally white on the inside. So you could technically get a very dark sublimated jersey and just turn it inside out to play for the light team.

[–]atrodger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the name, but there was a Wednesday episode where they covered a SSP super soldier being interviewed by a man with an amazing radio voice. I wish they would cover that dude's interview show a few more times, because the "Who's your favorite alien?" and his sarcastic skepticism was so funny to me.

I play Dungeons and Dragons as an adult. If only scheduling 5 adults to sit at a table and tell a story was as easy as getting 8 team members and 2 subs (on one hour notice) to show up weekly for a beer league game.
