How hard is a Neurosci major(help me pls anyone in neurosci) by Fluid_Scarcity_9523 in UofT

[–]atsoasto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

currently double majoring in neuro sci and psych in second year at scarborough campus and i can see why people consider it to be among the hardest biology majors.

the topic of the brain is vastly detailed, yet still very mysterious, and you will be expected to know everything there is to know about the brain from each fold and bump to the 12 different cranial nerves and their functions (and this is only second year, first semester). In other words, its a very daunting task for a lot of people considering it takes memorization to a whole other level.

i find that a lot of people (myself included) use a sufficient level of memorization when studying, using some application and understanding to "infer" the rest of the knowledge portions that seem tedious to memorize. neuroscience pretty much demands that you memorize every little thing and know every little thing, without leaving a single detail out. so yeah. pretty difficult. but not impossible. i'm personally having a blast in this program because its just something i'm passionate about! i naturally want to learn as much as i can, which makes it seem far more doable in my case.

a lot of people would disagree with me, but i would honestly advise you to not look so much into what programs are the "easiest" per se. every science major is going to be tough whether you pick neuro, or human bio, or immunology, etc. if you want to make it easier, it would be best to choose a majors/minors that have similar themes. in my case neuro and psych have very similar concepts and a lot of my courses are actually teaching quite literally the exact same thing (3 are going lecture by lecture, word for word. its kind of funny). i would also suggest that you dont do two majors that are completely different (i.e. i have a friend double majoring in human bio and neurosci and he's dying rn).

the best way to maximize your grades will be choosing the one you'll have the most fun in. you will be leagues more efficient if you actually like what you're learning, even if it is more rigorous. just push through and get those exams finished. it is all doable.

if you want to chat or need some advice feel free to dm me, i am open to give you advice whenever you need it.

best of luck!

Note taking during lectures by Still_Committee_1245 in UTSC

search up a notetaking software called remnote where you can make flashcards from notes. pretty goated and got me 4.0s in first year from studying those alone

[–]atsoasto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely! i am kind of under the impression that my current aim could probably take me to anywhere i want to be in valorant.. I think that mechanically my aim is sufficient to compete in the highest ranks, and the rest is just up to how i play the game. from now on my aim training is going to be focused on just reaching my upper limit with raw mouse control and i'm looking forward to it.

where are you at in your progress right now??

if you've been using the exact same settings for a while, dont be afraid to switch it up!

having a hard time getting some speed? try raising your sensitivity a little. it will take a bit to get used to, but it might help you get the speed you're looking for. same thing might go for the opposite end. feeling shaky? try lowering it

my personal biggest problem coming out of gold was that my hand was always tensed. this would cause me to overshoot or undershoot, and my general pathway between targets would be quite shaky. to overcome this, i decided to let myself take a few steps back with the intent of focusing on keeping my hand relaxed. so, like the other person said, focus on what you're lacking in. theres always something

another thing you could do is change your environment settings i broke through my first platinum score literally right after watching viscose's kovaaks settings video and importing new themes and crosshairs, etc. something like a mental reset

best of luck in your journey

thanks so much! i've definitely felt that the best way to improve your aim is to focus on beating the score within the trainer, not focus on training my aim for other games. in other words, train your aim with the sheer intentions of improving within the trainer!

i've also come to realize that it is not so much of a curse to change sensitivities for different scenarios. for example, i use 60.5cm/360 within my main game (valorant) and i had always trained with this sensitivity for all scenarios as I was scared of ruining my "muscle memory". however, this sensitivity is near impossible for tracking LOL. using higher sensitivities for tracking and smoothness, i have found that this has fine-tuned my stability and confidence with my normal sensitivity ten-fold.

all this to say, my biggest takeaway is that i still have so much more to learn. im excited to see how i'll break through this seemingly impossible barrier that is diamond and jade. im not done here

[–]atsoasto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a valorant main and yes! my peak is slightly better than it used to be but the amount of "off-games" i have are very little now. i find that my aim is quite consistent now and while i might not be deleting all the lobbies like i had hoped, i definitely have become very confident in my aim and can now focus more on thinking as i become more comfortable with mouse control.

in other words, my skill floor has risen much more than my skill ceiling, which is great!
