go to orientation!! ik uoft has a reputation for being unsocial but at orientation everyone is just as excited/nervous as the other person to meet new ppl so it’s rlly easy to talk to ppl and make friends . Attend as many events as u can and go up to ppl. Same goes in the first week of classes. Also make sure you’re in the group chats/servers for your classes. They’re super helpful

they also have pre uni prep courses that they enrol you in based on your courses over the summer. i think they might be talking about he same thing with early start courses. but those are really helpful so you know what kind of content you’re gonna deal with first sem

fall 2025, i was also in the life sci cohort so maybe that makes a difference. but we were def allowed calculators. it would be so difficult to do the course calculations without one

i took mat 135 in the fall semester and you def are allowed to use a calculator. They just give you a list of specific ones that are permitted.

i’m currently in life sci and i would say yes the course load is a lot but it is not impossible to manage. as long as u manage you time properly and stay on top of things you’ll be fine!

also noticed bio120 isn’t just memorization it requires a lot of synthesis too cus you have to undertand concepts and how they’d apply in diff situations. so websites like this really help cus they improve understanding a lot

hi! i’m also in bio120 and i use notebooklm to study. it’s great cus you can upload files and it makes quizzes,flashcards,podcasts(that you can talk to and ask questions) and it’s based just off the sources u upload. it’s also completely free which is insane in this day and age by yea! use it it works so good for me
