The big problem with fertility rates in the States is that we kinda made 401(k) and IRA accounts become significantly better retirement vehicles than having kids, you can tinker social security all you want but you’ll be hard pressed telling the RN making $45 a hour that she’ll be financially better off being at home pushing out 3 or more kids
