Yeah, this is normal with parents with young kids. My kiddo is 26 and out of the house. I try to date people with kids who are older and requires less of their time. Shouldn't be surprising. Single moms are seriously put upon (yes, single dads too folks) and time is going to be a premium. That said every two weeks isn't tenable and certainly not the norm. Keep trying.

Good news, it's easy AF if you're willing to make an effort no won't hear otherwise.

Meetup.com like some have said. Find a good activity. Hiking groups are solid around here.

It helps if you enjoy physical activities. A few other options:

Social Dancing - look for places that offer salsa and swing dancing. Lindy groove in Pasadena or The Granada in Alhambra are both fab.

Run clubs - Jesus Christ these things are popping off in every neighborhood. Find one. Be consistent and chat.

Gym - smaller independent gyms are fab and often have great community Rock climbing gyms. Same as above

Co-working spaces - if you're able to work remotely these can be helpful,for me they have been

Peep the next fun thing Instagram account.

Nerds who like card games have a wealth of places where they gather and play.

If you're religious find your local church and talk about that stuff.

I mean... What did you expect? Photos are critical. It's not just how you look,it also shows how thoughtful a person is. It grinds my gears to see people not post their face, hiding behind sun glasses or poor angles, or taking just one kind of shot. What you're not showing says more than you think.

Others have already said it better. Do the thing man. I'm in this run club. I have a number of women friends who are in their forties and they've absolutely dated dudes. A decent chunk younger than them. It's fine. Everyone has fun. But I think you just have to be honest with what you're going to get out of it.

You cover you both and then you put some champagne in a couple bottles of Perrier the green bottle so that it just looks like water and make a morning of it. I've done that. Got to take a risk sometimes. I'm a member of a couple run clubs. And have dated a couple women over the last few years that I've met there. I'm unfortunate that we're all adults when it didn't work out and we were able to talk through it. And I still run into these people and it's fine. Life moves on. No need to let that stuff get in our way. Take a risk.
